There are so many reasons why you need to give your child the chance to learn to swim... Firstly, the most important is that swimming is the only sport which can save your child’s life. But there are so many other reasons too!... Swimming is lots of fun for people of all ages and children especially love getting in the water and enjoying themselves. But it is not just fun, swimming also provides loads of health benefits which can help to keep your children healthy and happy at the same time! Swimming keeps your child’s heart and lungs healthy, improves strength and flexibility, increases stamina and even improves balance and posture Another great thing about swimming is that children of any age or ability can take part and it is more accessible for children with additional needs than almost any other sport. Swimming too provides challenges, rewards & accomplishments, which helps children to become self-confident and believe in their abilities #seeyousoon

Even with pools closed at the moment there are so many ways you can condition your little human to the water Playing in the bath is such a special time to bond Here’s a great tip to get them used to start holding their breath for submersions when classes resume. Take a wet cloth and wipe their face gently. As you have this eye contact with them, it is important to remain positive and smiling. It is also a great time to use your verbal cues that associate words with act...ions. Cup your hand and scoop up some water, gently pour the water onto their head. Do this until they are comfortable before proceeding. Work your way up to gentle splashing (get them to splash with you!) Just be prepared to get a little wetter than usual #watersafety #babyswimming #toddlerswim #learntoswim #swimming #bigsplashswimmingacademy #bathtime #fun #learning #lockdownfun #parentslove #wemissyou #barrie #barriemoms #barriedads #weloveourcustomers #community #strongertogether #seeyousoon

Did you know...? Babies under 6 months float really well! Not only do they have a high fat content in their body to help them float but they too have been surrounded by amniotic fluid for 9 months in the womb. ... This makes the feeling of water in their ears quite natural and they will be happy to relax on their backs for the float. After a bit of practice and before the righting reflex kicks in, you will only need to support your baby lightly with your finger tips if at all when performing a back float! Feeling wired and tense before bed is a recipe for a restless night of tossing and turning. Life is stressful at the moment, not only for adults but for our little people too. Swimming on a regular basis will help them to get rid of pent-up energy so that, when they hit the sack, they’ll nod off more easily and sleep more soundly. With a more regular sleeping pattern, they’ll wake up feeling rested and fresh for the day ahead ...
