preparing for labour . There is no question that labour will be full of very intense sensations, most women describe these as painful sensations. No matter ...how you experience labour it is without a doubt hard work! There ARE ways you can prepare for this process and it’s intensity. . Focusing on a combination of physical movement, quality rest/relaxation, education around the labour process, and mindfulness will take you a very long way. . Labour is strong, the human mind is stronger. Preparing gives you tools to better equip yourself for anything that may come. No matter what kind of birth you’re planning! . The current Covid-19 crisis does not discriminate, however some of us are more vulnerable than others. This is particularly true for pregnant women. As health c...are workers we need to ensure that we are able to continue to perform our vital roles and support and contribute to a safe birthing environment. Please help our Midwives and Doulas by keeping your family home and avoid interaction within the community. We are doing the same. Feel free to share this message. #corona #homebirth #viruses #worldhealth #stayhealthy #stopthespread #stayhome #appleblossomfamilies #vancouvermidwives #savebedsforsickpeople See more

And just like that, she was a mama to a son and a brand new daughter. Did you find out the sex of your baby? Or did you keep it as a surprise? For my first 3 births, I kept it as a surprise. I liked having a "reward" of finding out after I worked so hard through labor. In my fourth pregnancy, I knew I was carrying identical twins but didn't want to find out the sex. We had to see a Perinatologist for regular ultrasounds and clinic appointments and at one visit, he casually asked what whether we had boys or girls at home and we told him proudly that we had 3 boys. He blurted out, "well you better paint the nursery pink!" And that's how we found out what we were having or that pregnancy. For my fifth and final pregnancy, we kept it a surprise.

Relax. Surrender. Open. What affirmations did you use in labor? Did you find them helpful at all? My go-to affirmation I repeated over and over in my mind while riding the contraction waves was, "relax, surrender, open."
