‘The beauty you see in me is a reflection of you’ ~Rumi ... We love beautifying the space here at the NEST; creating altars, collecting symbolic pieces, and keeping fresh flowers helps reflect the beauty of our own nature back to us! Thank you to the Edgewalkers group for tending our space so intentionally this weekend in ritual, and for this little surprise bouquet you left behind!

In late September Michelle and I took the day off work to take part in the Climate Justice march at Queen’s Park. Beyond moved by the youth speakers and the inspiration behind this movement- it brought me back to the years I spent leading climate action on campus- and being immersed in the Activist scene here in Toronto. Things have really changed! Youth have infused it with a whole new dose of gravitas and passion- they are calling the adults in their lives to step up for th...e sake of their futures. ... We are listening ... Introducing NEST for Change’ A monthly offering of free studio space in support of indigenous rights and climate justice. It’s more clear than ever in light of the horrors being faced by the people of Wet’suwet’en that those who are impacted the most by climate change, and the greed behind our thirst for oil- are those who have the most to offer in terms of a way through the chaos. Indigenous voices and practices have long been ignored, oppressed and vilified to uphold the colonial systems that we benefit from. The same pattern at play behind the fires in the Southern Hemisphere- on repeat as we forcibly remove the Unist’ot’en people from their land in the name of oil. In light of all of this Michelle and I asked ourselves what meaningful offering we could contribute. Time and funds may be thin at times but we do have a beautiful studio! The Blue Heron Studio is proud to launch NEST for Change- An offer of studio space, once a month, free of charge for events, meetings, or fundraisers in support of indigenous rights and climate justice. Priority will be given to folks from/ supporting indigenous communities and land defenders in Canada. If you have an event or group that would benefit from this offering please contact us at [email protected] ... In solidarity With so much love!
