Don’t teach your students what you know... teach them what they need. Their content is based on what they know. Sounds logical, right? But when it comes to actually SELLING that kind of a program... it doesn’t work. you need to flip it. I spent literally months of my life obsessing about Marie Forleo’s B-School... . scrolling through and re-reading the emails + sales page researching all the affiliates who were offering bonus packages + deals... which one was the best?? looking at my finances wondering if I could afford it...... wondering if I could afford NOT to imagining what my life COULD be like if I took a risk and invested in myself, my idea of a dream business wondering if B-School really COULD be the answer to my prayers... . I started to SLIP :( for the first 3 weeks I was the perfect student.. . cleared my schedule... got up early before work {um, yeah... had a job} to do The Work finished every worksheet, found an accountability partner in the facebook group... . you name it, I did it . but then I hit a snag, couldn’t seem to figure something our or find the answers I needed to move forward, and... the slip and the time pressure led to overwhelm, and... the overwhelm intensified the negative beliefs about myself.. . you’re not cut out for this look... you’ve got everything a person needs to live the dream and you STILL can’t seem to get it right besides, there are a ton of way better graphic designers, who have WAY MORE experience and credentials, so... who do you think you are, trying to pull this off... you’ll never make it . sheesh, hey? But please tell me... can you relate?? I QUIT Oh, and I mean REALLY quit! As in I didn’t EVER go back and finish that program that I invested months of my life and thousands of dollars on.... Oh, I had all kinds of INTENTIONS to get back at it... In fact, for the next 3 YEARS I’d accept the invitation to rejoin B-Schools Alumni access to hop on the group calls and stuff, but... I never showed up to one. single. call.
