Happy Friday Everyone..!! "We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity; more than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. National Burger Day (Part 2) There seems to be some consensus amongst historians that the food (burger) as we know it today truly gained popularity at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, an event that also gave us the ice-cream cone. Some fun facts:... - Americans consume 50 billion hamburgers a year, enough to circle the earth 32 times. - Hamburgers got their name from Hamburg, Germany where a cut of beef called the Hamburg steak is from. This evolved into what we now know as the hamburger. - During WWI, the US Gov’t tried to rename hamburgers as ‘liberty sandwiches. - In 1921, Walter A Anderson (a short order cook) and E.W. Ingram (an insurance exec) founded White Castle, the oldest burger chain, in Wichita, Kansas. Their first burger sold for a nickel. - The Big Mac was introduced in 1968 and sold for 49 cents 1 - credit @junkfoodjunction 2 - credit @superherofoodies 3 - credit @twourism 4 - credit @foodieinthe6ixx 5 - credit @thehungry_programmer 6 - credit @mjeatstoronto 7 - credit @munchhalal 8 - credit @flavoursinthe6ix 9 - credit @cheatdayto 10 - credit @superfoodieto

National Burger Day (Part 1) People have been eating cooked meat on bread for centuries, but the association with Hamburg seems to stem from a 1758 recipe for a dish called the Hamburg Sausage. Originating in Hamburg, Germany, the hamburger as we know it was developed in Seymour, Wisconsin, a town still famous for its hamburger heroics.
