Was having a conversation with a member today and she asked asked about my thoughts on current COVID restrictions and how I deal with it. My response was ‘I don’t really focus on that.’ It doesn’t mean I’m not concerned or hopeful or frustrated with the current situation. It means I’m not focusing on things out of my control. I continued on and said ‘I’ve had to batten down, go below deck and weather this storm. I’m focusing on things I can control right now.’ For me focusin...g on the negative is like standing on the deck of the ship and yelling at the storm to pass. It’s depressing, futile and dangerous. I have tightened things up, and set our sights to come out the other side. Below deck I’m plotting future courses, expanding my knowledge, and taking care of the crew. Is this the right strategy for everyone? No. But I only have control over how I act and react, so this is what I am doing.
