Sound on. Now available on our website: is pleased to announce the latest addition to our ongoing SMALL CAPS digital publication series, by Christian Vistan & Elisa Ferrari. This digital publication also marks the first in our ongoing suite of web releases in celebration of Issue 3.42: Translingual. was written following five walks taken and recorded in July 2020 in Vistan and Ferrari’s... respective neighbourhoods of Ladner and Mount Pleasant on the unceded territories of the Tsawwassen, Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. On these walks, they read texts by and to each other alongside writing by Etel Adnan, Dylan Robinson, Édouard Glissant, Amelia Rosselli, Rhoda Rosenfeld, Craig Dworkin, and Harryette Mullen. The sonic environment is interpreted, translated, and foregrounded into text in the writing from these walks. On our website now, Clint Burnham on Evan Lee's at @sfugalleries Teck Gallery, a first in our introduction of web-only reviews. https://thecapilanoreview.com/ "I want to take seriously the argument that fakery, the fugazi nature of Evan Lee’s artwork can be read through a Marxist critique of finance capitalism. That is, a critique of fugazi can help us to understand why Marxism must not overlook the importance of immaterial, emotional, and other forms of ...non-capital producing labour." - Clint Burnham Evan Lee: Fugazi was on view from May 11, 2019 April 26, 2020 at SFU Galleries’ Teck Gallery in Vancouver. This summer, The Tyee published an article examining the lesser-known history of Vancouver's "Gassy Jack" and pays tribute to the powerful Squamish leader Quahail-ya (also known as Madeline Deighton) who has often been left out of the account. There is no monument to Quahail-ya, but her story is important, Squamish cultural leader, poet and ethnobotanist T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss told the CBC last year." T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss's poem from Issue 3.35 of The Capilano Review, ..."Ode to Madeline Deighton," is featured in the article, and can be read for free through our archive: https://journals.sfu.ca///capreview/article/view/3207/3205 Read the full Tyee article: https://thetyee.ca///01/Tearning-Down-Monumental-Mistakes/ Read The Capilano Review's Issue 3.35 on Place and Displacement: https://thecapilanoreview.com/issues/spring-2018-2/
