We are so excited to introduce you to our first Artist in Residence. Help us welcome Michael Pickard. Michael Pickard grew up on a farm in rural Chatham-Kent, always drawing or painting whenever he could. After a year of Tradigital Animation at St. Clair college, he did a 180 and pursued a career in Physiotherapy. A couple years into his degree he realized that his true passion was in the arts. Soon after leaving school he went through a ‘spiritual awakening’ followed by som...e very dark years. He had lost his joy in life, even when creating art. With a lot of resilience, patience, and support, he has gone through a huge transformative healing process and is able to create again. He has since started a production company with his cousin called ‘Philosia Pictures’, focusing on videography and art. Michael understands the important role art can play in each of our lives and on a collective level. It can have the ability to evolve our consciousness, give us hope or even help us to heal. We're excited to announce our first featured artist Richi Dufesne! Richi Dufesne has called CK his home and community since 2005. He is a life long artist and lover of all things horror and Halloween. His talents lie in various mediums including painting, sketching, sculpting, tattooing, and metalwork. His passion is in using these talents to create realistically gruesome costume makeup, masks, prosthetics, and Halloween props. He started Side Effects in 2020 selling custom and short-run Halloween masks. He has also partnered with PEB Customs in the U.S. doing the same. He hopes his work will scare you to death!!!
