Today is National Food Bank Day. Food banks are and will continue to be essential in Canada, without a basic income, many Canadians are unable to access safe, good-quality and nutritious food. Food Bank Facts: *34% of those relying on food banks nationally are children. *1 in 8 people assisted by food banks are employed.... *40% of food distributed by Canadian food banks is fresh (eg: fruit, vegetables, bread, milk) *Every month there are nearly 1.1 million visits to food banks across Canada. If you are in the position to donate non perishable items, the food bank would greatly appreciate it. Check your local food bank website to see the high priority food list at their location.
