Saw this on a friends newsfeed... Horses really do lift the spirit of a broken heart better then anything I’ve ever known. They have always been my guide, through every rough patch.

Is there anything anymore comforting then warm sourdough bread right out of the oven, it’s like a big hug I stopped buying bread, this weekly ritual is something my boys look forward! I think we are supposed to let it cool before slicing in but that never ever happens What really intrigued me about sourdough is that it’s supposed to be way easier to digest and way lower o the glycemic index which means it’s won’t cause blood sugar spikes like a regular loaf. This batch has been fermented for over 24 hours, organic flour and the flavour is incredible! If you like the sounds of sourdough bread and would like to try to get into the ritual of making it send me a message, I have a little course made which will save you a ton of time. Simplicity is my game!

Do you rush through meals? Grab n’ go breakfast? A self care routine I’ve been adopting is taking the time to sit down without distraction and enjoying a daily probiotic kefir bowl, as I’m eating it I think about how I’m feeding my good gut bacteria and supporting my gut health. I also gave up coffee and love my Dandy Blend drink each morning. I can’t think of any other more important self care routine for me. ... What’s your non-negotiable self care?

How can I tell if my blood sugar levels are affecting my sleep? Ask yourself... 1. Am I waking up consistently at 2 or 3 in the morning? 2. Am I waking up to urinate but feel very hungry? 3. Do I feel hangry upon waking in the morning?... 4. Do I find myself wanting a midnight snack? 5. Do I ever wake up feeling dizzy in the middle of the night or morning? If you answer yes to any of those questions, unsteady blood sugar levels might be the culprit of your sleep disturbances. If you find that you’re waking up at two or three in the morning this is because your blood sugar declines, your body’s natural response is to increase cortisol and adrenaline. These are two hormones that can be literally life-saving. They increase your blood sugar in response to low blood sugar levels. They want to get you back to baseline. however, these two hormones are also responsible for waking us up in the morning. You don’t want to be woken up at 3 AM which is exactly what happens when blood sugar dips at night. You can test this out by eating a handful of nuts or seeds right before bed. If you do this and some of your sleep issues improve it can be a sign your your blood sugar levels are to blame. Once you begin to make adjustments to improve your blood sugar levels during the day you likely won’t need to eat the bedtime snack to help you sleep more consistently. My favourite snack for this test is a spoonful of all natural nut butter and a spoonful of coconut oil mixed together! Share your results with me
