It’s Tuesday...Boss Babe Tuesday, that is! Today’s Boss Babe is one I found while scrolling through Facebook once again. I immediately had to contact her because my daughter loves decorating cakes and I wanted to see if she offered classes which then led to wanting to feature her as a Boss Babe. My fellow Makers! Today I’m talking to you. And I want to talk to you about something that’s been on my mind off and on for quite some time. And it comes from my heart . So here goes... You, my fellow maker, are not WalMart! And you’re probably thinking, What are you talking about? Well, here’s what I mean...your competition (in whatever field that you happen to be a maker) is not WalMart. You know why? 1 You will NEVER win that competition. EVER. WalMart’s goal is to sell the cheapest things. Period. That’s how the empire was built. And you can’t compete with that! So stop selling your stuff for the bare minimum. 2 You’re not making any money when you try to sell as cheaply as WalMart does. And when you don’t make money, it’s not a business, it’s a hobby! 3 Your prices need to reflect your effort. Would you take a 9-5 job that pays you less than minimum wage? So why, then, are you doing that in your business? Your time is worth more than you realize. 4 And lastly, I’ll say it again, you are not WalMart! In my experience, I have found that those customers who don’t want to pay your prices are the hardest customers to deal with if you do drop your prices to please them. It’s just not worth it. If they want WalMart prices, let them go to WalMart otherwise you’ll end up doing more work for less money. So, my fellow maker, do yourself a giant favour and sell your products for what they (and you) are worth! And, who knows, maybe you won’t just have an expensive hobby any more. It’s Boss Babe Tuesday! Today’s Boss Babe is a transplant to the Valley...just like me! So I’ll let her tell you more about herself and her business. Hi! My name is Jena McKee,owner/operator of Canadian Flora Essential Oils. I am originally from Belleville Ontario, but I ended up here in Swan because my partner Kevin's parents sold us their acreage in order to downsize.... I established my business in Ontario in January of 2020, producing Balsam fir essential oil by partnering with local Christmas tree farms in the area. Since moving to Bowsman at the end of May I have been able to produced a black spruce and jack pine essential oil, as well as a yarrow and a wild mint hydrosol spray, all from material harvested within 50km from my farm in Bowsman! I am so excited about the natural diversity of the area, and am eager to expand my knowledge of the amazing plants of Canada! This is a rare sighting at our house! This one is usually going top speed at ALL times but that day a missed nap caused this rare sight. And she was out for the night by 6:45! Is it bad that I was excited to have free evening? I believe that, as mamas, having a break once in awhile allows us to be better moms in the long run! We all need a break once in awhile and you shouldn’t feel any guilt for enjoying a rare evening to do whatever you want. ... What do you do when you have free evening?

Workshop Alert! 1 The Book Stack Workshop (one full size or 3 minis...see 1st and 2nd pic) is coming up THIS weekend and there are still some spots available! Message me by Friday at 7pm to reserve your spot. 2 Choose Your Project Workshops are next week. You can choose either a weekday evening (7-10pm) or weekend afternoon (2-5pm). There are lots of projects to choose from (see third pic)!... 3 Do Your Own Thing Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, September 28 from 7-10pm. This one is focused on signs only. There are various sizes and styles to choose from (see 4th pic) and you can choose your own quote/saying for the sign! Which one is your favourite workshop? 1 2 or 3

The sunset tonight! Thankfully the hubster took the pic while harvesting because I missed seeing it in person. This time of year produces some pretty amazing sunsets though. So...did you capture some great sunset pics tonight or any other night? I’d love to see them!
