Does anyone know about brass rubbings? This was done in England in the 1970s and is now in a frame approximately 4' x 3'. It identifies the subjects as Mary and John. I can't fit it in my new apartment but am not sure who to contact. Any ideas?

ANOTHER DAY IN LOCKDOWN SENIOR LIFE Our Retirement Residence, nursing homes, and long-term care homes have been affected by the Coronavirus. No visitors since March has been difficult and greeting family members through windows and teleconferencing a real challenge for seniors and those with medical issues as well as for staff and family members.... Dining room changes in our Residence incorporated social distancing which means a reduced number of tables and only two chairs per table. In addition, the schedule changed to three sittings instead of two and staff were sanitizing tables and chairs after each meal. No group socializing was permitted and activities were reduced to daily puzzles. Not even four at a table to play bridge was allowed. Little did we realize that this was actually the harbinger of things to come. Last week we were placed under a real quarantine after one resident tested positive for Covid-19. In accordance with communication from the Department of Health, everyone is restricted to their rooms, NO VISITORS are permitted, even through windows, and meals are delivered in take-out containers using a large paper bag with handles. This same bag is used to collect the remnants of the meal sometime later. Residents are sitting in their doorways to chat with their neighbours but mostly, we are alone and isolated. WHAT ABOUT OUR PETS? This confinement is likely a common situation in the Spring of 2020 but those of us with pets are experiencing additional stress as we struggle to care for our animal family members. Luckily, I have been able to order cat food and treats online and have a standing order for litter. Thanks to the efforts of our essential workers in the food, retail and transport workforce, my rescue cat, Nana, has been okay. I can’t help but wonder what other pet parents are doing. Yesterday I undertook the cleaning of the litter box. Sounds easy, but there was a delay in receiving the supplies due to the prioritizing of deliveries. Then it took another day for the over-worked staff here to bring the parcel to our room. We were both relieved to have that issue resolved. With the cabin fever in full force, humans and animals are becoming increasingly short-tempered and impatient with others. Let’s all do our best to control these behaviours. Our loved ones and our pets are just as stressed as we are. Please follow the Health Department guidelines and be safe. Other generations managed to deal with wars and natural disasters so we know we can do this. BLOGS AT CRITTERCRECHE.COM
