We wanted to send out a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who came out this weekend. We were so happy with the turnout, and hope everyone who placed and order enjoyed their food. They worked extremely hard and we wanted to send out a big thank you to everyone who helped out! With covid ruining a lot this year for everyone, they loved hearing all the wonderful stories of being able to keep the traditions going within your families. Hi everyone! I thought i would introduce myself. My name is Jessica and I run social media for Sunset Villa Association. I will be posting on The Danish Place social media until we find a new operator for the restaurant. As you know, Kristine, Jacob and Joanne have closed their business. As part of the GoFundMe agreement, they gave Sunset Villa the The Danish place branding, chattels, social media, website etc so that Sunset Villa will be able to operate as The Danish Place... for many years to come! As well, we are now able to offer a turn key restaurant to a new entrepreneur. If you know anyone passionate about Danish food and culture, please encourage them to inquire to [email protected]. Sunset Villa would like to thank each and every one of you for all your support over the many years the restaurant has been run by Kristine, Jacob and Joanne, and their parents Anna and Benny. It definitely will not be the same without them, and we thank them for all their hard work over the years. We will miss them greatly. We regret that we cannot have a Nordic Market this year, but we WILL be having a Baker Day!! On a day like today one word comes to mind hygge (pronounced hue-guh)... a quality of mindfulness, coziness and a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture). To me nothing is more hygge then soup, candles, cozy clothes maybe a fire... and most importantly my family enjoying each other’s company maybe playing a board game. Today we have no obligations, no responsibilities we just get to look outside and watch the rain from ...our cozy couch. I was going through recipe books and found this little gem given to me by my grandmother Ann Holm.
