The Dark Side - September 30-October 1, 2020 Book Club continues (FREE join anytime) - Thursday, October 1, 7-8 pm - access free course on Teachable Technique Lab: Stage 3 - Sunday, October 4... Monthly focus: Hip shimmies (last week!) - October’s focus: Hands Weekly focus: Two options available: Live Online (through Zoom) - you will be emailed a live class link so you can join me in real time, at the posted class time. On Demand (through Teachable) - the live class is recorded, and 1-2 days after the class, the recording is uploaded to Teachable. You can access the recording without any limits or expiry dates. Tuesday, September 29 - Technique Refinement: Horizontal hip figure 8’s - Basics and embellishments (1-2 pm) We’ll look at the basics of our horizontal figure 8’s forward, and 2 ways to embellish these. Tuesday, September 29 - Music Madness (5:45-6:45 pm) We’ll continue our music discussions as we listen and describe the big picture. We’ll focus this week on overall descriptions, sections and listening for themes. Tuesday, September 29 - Dark Side Drills (7-8 pm) An hour of open level belly dance drills to keep your mind and body moving. We’ll focus on 4-5 isolations and movements in each class, using stationary and moving drills. Beneficial for all styles of belly dance. Wednesday, September 30 - Belly Dance Fundamentals: Hip and chest circles/Hip shimmy preparation and Figure 8’s (5:45-6:45 pm) This series focuses on the fundamental belly dance and is intended for absolute beginners as well as those with experience who are looking to review and refine their belly dance building blocks. We’ll take a look at a few isolations and movements each class, discuss posture and put the technique taught into short danceable combinations to get you moving and flowing. Wednesday, September 30 - Pedal to the Metal: Circles (from last week) & Figure 8’s (7-8:15 pm) It’s fast, it’s hard, it’s fun. Drills, shimmies, and a combination in this fast paced and challenging class. Open to all interested! Not for the faint of heart. Thursday, October 1 - Dark Side Drills: Figure 8’s (11 am-noon) An hour of open level belly dance drills to keep your mind and body moving. We’ll focus on 4-5 isolations and movements in each class, using stationary and moving drills. Beneficial for all styles of belly dance. Thursday, October 1 - Creative Movement (5:45-6:45 pm) Work with images, ideas, prompts and cues as we move and discover. This class is for dancers and non-dancers alike, for anyone who wants to investigate movement. For belly dancers, it’s an opportunity to begin to develop your own movement vocabulary, to find another way to connect with your moving body, and to discover and increase your mind body connection.
