October 24th, when we informed you of the COVID 19 outbreak on our inpatient unit, we have confirmed one more positive staff member on this unit. Our best wishes go out to our staff members and everyone in our community who is affected by this virus.

*NEW LOCATION OF THE HWMH COVID-19 TESTING CENTRE * As of today, October 26, the HWMH COVID-19 Testing Centre is now on the east side of the hospital, 400 Broa...d Street, in the previous Pharmasave location. Enter the east parking lot next to the Hospital Foundation office (322 Broad). Signage and a volunteer will be present. Park in the designated spots. Do not arrive any more than 5 min prior to your appointment. You will have to walk through the centre. If you have mobility concerns please let us know and we can make other arrangements. NEWS RELEASE October 24, 2020 COVID Outbreak Declared at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital... DUNNVILLE Haldimand War Memorial Hospital (HWMH), in co-operation with the Haldimand-Norfolk Public Health Unit, has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on its Inpatient Unit. This comes after two employees of the unit tested positive for the virus one on Thursday and one this morning. The staff members are self-isolating at their homes. Out of an abundance of caution, we have ceased all admissions to, and discharges from, the Inpatient Unit. We have also closed the unit to visitors, and are now testing all patients there as well as staff assigned to this area of the hospital, says interim president and CEO Sharon Moore. She adds that HWMH is working with the public health unit on contact tracing for the two employees. The situation is part of the second wave of COVID-19 that we’ve been expecting, Moore says. As we’ve done since mid-March, our aim is to take whatever steps necessary to protect our hospital patients, Edgewater residents, employees, physicians and members of the community. The hospital will provide further information to the community once it has received the results of the Inpatient Unit patient and staff tests. Our emergency department remains here to serve the community. Further updates will be provided as necessary.
