Hello everyone! We are in need of a couple of strong individuals for an hours worth of manual labour on Tuesday November 17th at 4pm at The Dockside Bistro. We will be moving in some boxes that will need to be unloaded from the vehicle and taken inside and stacked up. Willing to pay $16 an hour for your time. Shouldn’t take more than one hour though. 2 at most. ... May need more help again on Wednesday or Thursday. Please direct message us if you’re interested and can commit to that time frame and are a strong and fast worker.

In Flanders Fields BY JOHN MCCRAE In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row,... That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Remember, never forget.

Thank you to you all. Thank you Ng or coming out and supporting the Seniors today in their fundraiser. An extra special thank you to my husband Sandy, my Mum Annette and my friend Sarah without who’s immense amount of time and efforts I could not possibly have made all those desserts. Thank you to the Seniors Club for lending us their kitchen space to make all of this and thank you to John and his executives for promotion if this to all their members. Once the donations are total up we will share with all of you!

These four people have huge smiles behind those masks! They are super excited to be out there giving away baked goods to the community today. They are four members of The Campbellford Senior Citizens’ Group and they’ll be at the Forrest Dennis Senior Citizens Centre at 55 Grand Road in Campbellford today until 4pm or until the treats run out. Go now!! Thank you Gord, Cheryl, John and Heather for allowing The Dockside Bistro to use your kitchen and for your time.

I have thought about posting this for over a week, but decided to give a shout out to that one awesome person who stole from us! To the person who stole the stack of pressure treated lumber and drywall from where it was nicely piled up for the next days use, I just want to say that... I hope you feel good about your decision to steal. ... I hope that you really, badly needed that & that you felt justified in stealing our materials. I hope that for whatever project you are using it for, every time you look at it you are reminded that you made a poor life choice when you decided to steal from someone else. But more than all of that, I hope that Karma sees you right! You have yourself a great day!! (And for those of you who didn’t steal, here’s a picture of a cute puppy sleeping all tucked up in a blanket, cause who doesn’t like a puppy!)

Version #5 of the menu. Its exhausting! We had a menu planned out and we kept tweaking it. We wanted it to be perfect. But then COVID came along. And it changed. And then it changed some more. We really hope youll like it. We have tried our best to make sure theres something for everyone and a bit of everything in it. I know youre all excited to see what the menu looks like, but Im afraid it may change once more Soon enough you will see it. All in good time my friends, all in good time.

Those mint green washroom partitions had to go. We needed that space for the bar! Its still a work in progress but heres a short timeline of the transformation so far.

So renovations have been ongoing since June. We actually started doing demo back in February but we couldnt start building until June. (Yes we are immensely behind schedule.) So we thought while youre waiting to see all we have done and are still doing, we would show you some behind the scenes footage of the place. These photos are of the upper area on the main floor of the building. Back in the day it may have been where the choir would sit. However, the wall, though it ...looks large from downstairs, was only about two feet high from the floor once you were upstairs. This was a huge safety issue. We needed to take that wall down and build a new one. The first two pics were taken back in February before any work was started. The third photo was taken recently. The wall still needs to be finished off, but its created a safe separation for the upper area and it has also created quite a bit of privacy up there too! See more

The Dockside Bistro 08.08.2020

I thought this was pretty cool! When we took back the wall, we found this underneath the drywall. Some gentlemen wrote their names on the wood to mark their presence and their time here. Its hard to read, but does anyone recognize any of the names in this photo? Were they workmen or parishioners? Would love to know and hear from them.

The Dockside Bistro 06.08.2020

Well the exhaust hood was a big job! The kitchen will be in the basement of the building. We needed to take back the ceiling a bit as it was a drop ceiling. Once we had pulled that down, they found another ceiling. And then another one. Oh boy. There were layers of ceilings. So we decided to strip it back bare to the underneath of the floor boards upstairs and start a new. Now that the exhaust hood is installed, we can begin to close things in around it.

The Dockside Bistro 03.08.2020

Over the next few days we will be showing you guys some behind the scenes footage of our renovations, whats been happening, whats still on going and whats to come. Stay tuned for some insider info!

The Dockside Bistro 14.07.2020

Day three of thanking those involved in our COVID 19 Free Meal Thursdays. We saved the best for last! The volunteers!!! The couple who offered to help out the very first time I asked for drivers and have consistently been there for us every single week since then. Thank you Ted & Darlene. ... Then there was the other couple who generously offered to do deliveries one week. Then the next. And then the next and have also continued to be there every week since. Not once missing a Thursday. Thank you Ann & Michael. Both of these phenomenal people have scheduled their lives around our Thursday morning deliveries. Or how about the couple who drove to Campbellford all the way from Peterborough every week to help do deliveries and then drove back home again! Thank you Joyce & George. One day I will total up just how many kilometres these people have driven! There have been numerous other folks who helped us to deliver one week or several weeks. If it were not for their help, we would have had to cut back the number of people we fed each week because we just couldn't do 100 deliveries a day alone. (In fact, I think I'm going to total up all the kilometres driven by all our volunteers one day, just to see how far we all travelled!) Thank you Heather, Emmie, Sherri, Andrew, Lisa, Priscilla, Sarah, Angela, Tiffani, Rob, and so many others who made this possible. Then there is one man, who has become very near and dear to our hearts. John Mancini - President of The Campbellford Senior Citizens' Club. John spoke with CKOL Radio on our behalf and informed them each week of what the meals would be so that they could announce it on air along with details of how to reach us. John helped field donations for us by setting up a webpage where you could make donations by PayPal or Credit Card, John drove around town picking up envelopes of donations for us and John fielded phone calls each week with those who were requesting meals. John has been a true partner in this journey and he is an absolute treasure to the people of Campbellford. Thank you to volunteers who in our opinion are what makes the wheels turn. These caring people, who spent their time, their gas money and put many miles on their vehicles all for free, are the heart and soul of a community. Their kindness and generosity speaks volumes.

There are just so many people to thank for their support it's hard to know where to begin! There were friends of ours, who wanted to come down and help out but couldn't due to physical distancing, so they sent a donation instead. There was someone who was caught in Spain with no way to get home and her Mother was residing in Coburg, running out of the meals her daughter had prepared for her. We went out of our boundaries for this very special case and to show her appreciat...ion, she sent us a donation. There was another woman who's son had just arrived home to Campbellford and needed to self isolate. No way of going to get groceries and not really knowing how to cook, we were able to provide meals and she sent in weekly donations as a token of her gratitude. There were individuals who donated whatever they could. Some weeks that might only be $5, but they wanted to help give back to others. We literally received donations of anywhere from $5 to $200. And that's just from individuals, not businesses. (They were yesterday's FB story. Go back and search for it and have a read if you missed it!) We are astounded by the amount of donations that we have received over the past several months. Enough donations that helped provide over 2500 meals!!!!! We had a few hundreds dollars to provide free meals to people for a week or two. It was all of YOU who made it possible for us to continue providing those free meals for months afterwards. Be proud of yourselves. You all deserve a high five! #CampbellfordProud #TrentHillsProud #Covid19 #NeighboursHelpingNeighbours #YouGuysRock #TheDocksideBistro

At times like these, I think we need to acknowledge all the local businesses & entities who supported the community during this difficult time of COVID. We would like to give a personal shout out to all of the following enterprises who supported us in providing you with free meals for the past 4 months. The Campbellford Senior Citizens' Club... CKOL Radio Tracks to Relax Northumberland County Stargrazers Natural Meat A1 Heating Inc. Island Park Retirement Residence Newman Insurance I think it's key to remember who stepped up to the plate during difficult times to help out when there was nothing for them to gain by doing so. They did it without the want or need of recognition. We believe that these are the businesses we should be supporting back and we hope you feel the same way. Stay Tuned.... for tomorrow's story of who else helped to make this all possible!

The Dockside Bistro 13.05.2020

As we reflect back on our time providing free meals, we realize that there are so many people to thank. Over the next few days, we will be posting a little bit about each person or persons that we are indebted to, grateful for and couldn't have done it without. We hope you will follow along with us and read about each individual section of people who made this possible.

We have some news for you all. It was a very difficult decision to make, but we have decided that we will continue on providing free meals with the donations that we have until the end of the month. That's right, thanks to many generous donors, what was going to run for a few weeks has run for months and will continue to run on Thursday July 23rd & 30th. However, after that time, we must take a break. ... It has been a wonderful, exciting, long, rewarding, exhausting and sometimes hair pulling journey. But mostly WONDERFUL. We have enjoyed so much, being able to help those who needed a helping hand. We have enjoyed meeting so many of you that live in Warkworth, Hastings, Campbellford, Havelock, Norwood, Marmora, Brighton and other areas. We have made friends along the way. We have brought smiles to peoples faces and sometimes they have brought tears to our eyes. Their generosity and outpouring of appreciation is more than we could have ever expected. But now that things are slowly getting into a new norm and now that things are beginning to re-open, we need some time for ourselves to concentrate on getting our restaurant up and running. So many things are going on, there are still so many things to do and there are so many decisions still to be made. We need some time to focus on that for a while so that we can start earning some money and then be able to get back to giving back to all of you again. We wish I could thank each and everyone of you personally for this journey but I fear I would miss one of you as there have been so very many of you. We hope you all understand how tough this was for us to decide on. We hope you understand that we too have bills to pay and we need to spend a little more time over the next while focusing on the business. We hope that once we are open, you will all join us for dinner one night and if we haven't yet met, let us know who you are when you come in. We'd love to put a face to the name. I look forward to sharing with all of you, photos and updates along the way as move forward with our dream. Thank you all.

In mid May Local Food for Local Good reached out to us to see if we could help them with their weekly meals that go to families throughout Northumberland County. They were aware of the good work we were doing making meals for those in need in Campbellford. They didnt want to deplete our resources though and offered to pay for the meals. We said if they would simply cover part of the costs we would be more than happy to help them out. Its been a wonderful run and one th...at continues on through the month of July. Weve met some wonderful people and made some great friends along the way. We were fortunate enough to be allowed on the scene each week and help out and see first hand how much work and effort goes into this. We were even part of the delivery process one week (something not new to us at all! Lol) So lucky to have crossed paths with these wonderful folks. 10/10 would definitely recommend helping out those in need!!!!!
