Well we had an issue with the shipping of our boxes and we tried to make due. We now we are officially out of boxes. So the girls are at the shop, with some donuts left. They can box them individually for you or if you want tobbring your own container, they will give you ab10% discount. For tomorrow we have some take out containers we picked up that will work until our shipment arrives Tuesday. (Its been sitting in Calgary since the 29th). Sorry for the inconvenience. UPDATE. We had our AHS inspection today. We have a few small things to fix. A mop hook , a small space at the back door , move the product into the kitchen (we were just waiting for the inspection), extend our sneeze/covid shield (this we knew but had a question about and will be done tomorrow). The last thing is all out homemade jelly has to go, I will have to remake it in the store kitchen, so we may be using store bought until I can replenish my stock. All easy fixe...s everything except one has been completed already and then we will get our approval. Once I have the go ahead I will make a conformation on opening. We are still hoping for a restricted menu opening this weekend. Charlotte

Well good news! We have our inspection booked. So let's hope it goes well and we get approved. We aren't going to announce an open date, because every time we do...something happens. We will update you after our inspection on Wednesday. Our building inspection this past Friday went well, they asked for a few more things, which are super easy and will follow up and this coming Friday. All other inspections have passed. As for the baking competition, James finished 6th in rou...nd 2. So we thank you all for voting. It was fun to participate. Can't wait to open very, very soon and see you all. Today we did another amazing event with one of our partners The Caffeinated Squirrel. We provided donuts for Crossfield Baptist Church and their Fall kick off. We are so happy to have been so welcomed into such an amazing community like Crossfield. Its been a super busy weekend, but super fulfilling as well. We hope everyone enjoyed their donuts and coffee. We are so excited to be providing donuts to The Garden of Hope this weekend as the host theYouth Volunteer Corps. For anyone that know me (Charlotte) Volunteering is something near and dear to my heart. Ive been a part of it since my youth and continued throughout my life. It seems fitting that this is our first community event in Crossfield. Make sure you check out The Garden of Hope, it is a wonderful place that plants, grows, harvests and then donates their produce to the Airdrie Food Bank.

I forgot to update yesterday. We have lights!!!!! Thanks Black Jack Electric. We have amazing contractors that have been working very hard to help us open. Lets hope the suppliers we are waiting on get our other contractors the supplies they need soon. These guys are all amazing and pushing so hard to help us. Thank you to all of them for being on their suppliers cases for us. EDIT: Oh and we have water....thank you to the towns contractors for their hard work getting the street and new water pipes done in front of us so fast. I know there was issues when they started further down Railway, but they are sure working hard to finish things up.

#update Everyday we get asked when we are opening, the answer is "we really dont know". Let me explain.. In June when we leased our location, we thought it would be a quick reno, remove a wall, paint and tile. Well the wall came down, and we found our first of many surprises. From there they havent stopped. ... We had to completely gut the entire building, reinforce the floor, replace the electrical, plumbing and hvac systems. Now our building is actually split into 2 shops, ours and the pizza shop. It used to be all 1 location many years ago, so lots of their plumbing and such runs through our basement, which we also fixed, because it would fall under our inspections. We replaced all but 2 small walls, all the insulation, all the sub floor and flooring. We have basically rebuilt the entire inside of the building. With the exception of a few contractors, and a few friends and family members James and myself (Charlotte), but mostly James, have done it all on our own. This is one reason it is taking so long. After all it is a 100 year old building. Now we add on the equipment/supply issues. We struggled for months to get a hood vent. Finally we found one that wasnt $40,000 and wouldnt take 6 weeks (because who the heck can afford that?). We get it and now have been waiting weeks for some silly metal pieces that need to be welded so we can hook it up. We need this all for the deep fryer and fire suppression system and cant open without it. Apparently they are delayed due to covid. Then the door frame, fire code requires doors to open out. We are replacing the very damaged door. So now it needs to swing out for fire code. We need a new frame for both these reasons. We ordered it right before the hail storm, and are now delayed to hail damage. We have no ETA on delivery and have been delayed laying tile because of the old door swinging in, it will hit the tile and prevents us laying it. Our original plan was to open July 1, 2020. We pushed it to August 1, then made arrangements for today, September 5. Yet we still have no really idea. We want to open as much as you want up to open. This is our dream and hopefully our future. Please stick it out with us.

Well I guess tomorrow is mashing bananas and making blueberry jelly ...I got some fresh fruit today, I asked for some over ripped bananas yesterday and he went to the warehouse/store and searched for me and delivered to the shop. The fruit stand in Crossfield has some great produce and Mike is super nice. He will even set up home delivery! They also have a produce store in Calgary. (Cant remember the name for the life of me).

Hours of operation We would like to thank everyone for your input on preferred hours of operation. We considered every comment and vacate up with a test schedule. If we find we need to adjust it in any way, we will provide you with lots of notice. So here you go, when we open, these will be our hours (to start at least). Monday - Wednesday 5am - 5pm... So as we get closer to opening we have so decisions to make. One of the most important one is our hours of operation. Now we are located in Crossfield, but we already have customers from many surrounding towns and cities. So we need to take this into consideration. So who better to ask than you, our customers. What kind of hours would you like to see us open? What days? Every day? Would you want to come down after dinner for a treat? What about summer vs winter hours? This weekend we had the amazing privilege of providing donuts for two beautiful people and their very special day. Congratulations Mathew and Danielle. They were married at beautiful Honest Box farm. If you havent heard of it, you can go and for a very small fee pick fresh vegetables. Great place to take the kids for the day. This weekend Jams Airdrie will be the last two days for a week to get donuts! We will be focusing on renovations for the week. So go see their team and grab your fix. Limited supplies. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ONLY. And grab breakfast too, its super yum. Kingsland market, right between to DQ and ATB.

I guess its time for a store update. When are we going to open? Is the burning question. Best answer is, we have no clue anymore and are so sorry. Good news is we finally recieved the elusive hood vent weve been waiting months for. It arrive late yesterday. Yay! Now to get it installed. Bad news is weve faced other delays. They wont take as long (or so weve been told). Hopefully only a few more weeks. ... Things are moving along nicely, we have stopped rushing, because there is no point in us killing ourselves when we have to keep waiting on parts or others. So we are taking the time to make things absolutely perfect. A few of our store plans have changes, a few things have been added and a few things removed. We continue to make donuts and do our best perfecting them. A few lucky Crossfield residents have been treated to samples that we brought to the store a few weeks ago. Hopefully they enjoyed them. So in the meantime, why dont you share a flavor you hope we have or want to try.

Yesterday I posted a photo of a ton of flavoring from Watkins. This is just a few of the icings in our small steam table. James makes all our icings from scratch. Last night I watched some videos of places using tubes of pre-made icing. Our promise to you, is we will NEVER use premade icing. You will ALWAYS get handmade icing with us. We know every ingredient that goes into our product. Its always fresh and made just for you. Yes it might take longer, but we believe you taste that in our donuts. Totally worth it, at least in our opinion. Weve been asked how we get our chocolate to taste like chocolate, I guess the answer is simple...we use chocolate.

Store update. We are still working hard on renovations. Our HVAC system has started going in and our hood vent and fire suppression system is FINALLY arriving later this week. Yay! We faced a few more delays, are are pushing for the beginning of August. We just cant make any promises. We are just as excited to open as all of you and cant thank you enough for your support. ... We did a birthday cake with donut pop topper for our friends daughter today. This was fun.

Today we tired the Watkins rootbeer flavoring....yum!!!! Our icing crumbled a little so we will have to play with it a little more again, but definitely prefer this over the Lorann oil flavoring. Way more natural flavor. We got a winner!

Someone needs the unfortunate job of taste tester. That falls under the job title of donut mans wife. #dossant made with yesterday fresh batch of strawberry jam, fresh raspberries, fresh blackberries, our homemade English creme and topped with a raspberry coulis, fudge drizzle and powdered sugar. Well, we managed to pull it off. We had equipment malfunctions and break downs. Had to use a small fryer that only did 4 donuts at a time. The pastry wheel broke, basically everything that could go wrong did. We still manage 600 Canada flag donuts with only 3 of us. Making, Decorating and delivering them. They werent all pretty, but a good test on our first mass production. Cant wait to have all our proper equipment!! Due to extensive renovations that we didnt expect, we have to push our opening day.
