Story time... How did I get into Real Estate? . . I started selling Real Estate at age 20. I got my licence in August 2007. I made the decision to get my Real Estate licence in May of that year while finishing my exams for University. I was at the time finishing my second year at UofT studying psychology, while working part time at Moores clothing for men. Moores clothing was the job that really made me realize I enjoyed working with people and people enjoyed working wit...h me. . . I had done telephone fundraising before for a local charity helping kids in need in our community and was quite good at it, I also volunteered in the emergency room at the local hospital, but I really excelled face to face with customers in a retail environment. . . One day a local top agent came into the store, and I sold him thousands of dollars worth of clothes. When he had finished shopping he mentioned that I would be good at Real Estate and I should try it out. At the time, I dismissed the idea and was just happy about the big sale I just made. . . But later, the idea grew on me and started researching more into the business. For my birthday my mother had taken me to a Real Estate investment seminar, and then I got the idea... I would get my licence to sell homes and pick up investment properties. My parents were super supportive and paid for all my courses and fees associated to get my licence...and the rest is history . . Being such a young agent wasn't easy, but I worked super had and had amazing clients that trusted me and gave me opportunities I will forever be grateful for . Seriously... who in their right minds trust a 20 year old kid with spiky hair and a goatee and ZERO experience to sell their homes? But they did, and I got the job done over and over again . . Everyone wonders about the effects of Covid on the market. But do you ever wonder how Realtors are doing business now? . . It is far from business as usual. In my repertoire you will find hand sanitizer, gloves, masks, wipes, and a lot of caution I do provide an essential service, bottom line there are many clients that have to move, they have to buy and they have to sell. There are many who already bought and they are now in the closing stages, and I need to be there to ...guide them through it. . . The best thing I can recommend to those buying and selling during these times is to be extremely careful. You never know who has been at the same house just before you, so use PPE at all times. Also, be prepared to deal with the changing market, delays, banking, deposits, and inspections. Everything is just a tad different than the last time you made a move . . Thanks to technology, I am able to show my listings virtually in real time to prospective buyers, walk them through the property from the comfort of their living room, create virtual open houses , prepare offers electronically, and create contactless transactions. Working from home might follow us even after this is all 'over . In my business, I have always worked at least a couple of days a week from my home office, and the rest of the days I am out on the road or at my actual office space. . . I find myself being productive from wherever I am as long as #6 is in place. Having self-discipline, and the right mindset can make you work from anywhere with the tools at hand. You can have the nicest, quietest, most luxurious office space... but if you are not focused and disciplined you will struggle to get anything done . . Create a schedule for yourself, set aside time for the important must do tasks in your work daily. Your must do tasks are what you get paid for...so make sure you don't get too busy filling up your agenda with the non essentials. Make a list the night before of what you want to accomplish the next day and start the morning off strong by tackling that list whether you want to or NOT . . HAPPY HOMEWORKING EVERYONE!
