Oct 17, I participated in the city municipal elections in Halifax as one of the election officials. This was the first time ever that I got involved in anything remotely related to politics, even voting . The whole process was a world different from what happens back in Nigeria. It was so peaceful and orderly. It wasn't a do or die affair for the election candidates because they believe they will serve the people and not to go and 'chop.' I was surprised that none of the... candidates' agents showed up at the district I officiated during the election period. My point here actually is, in light of all that has happened in past weeks in Nigeria, we can't afford to continue to stay in our corners just like I and some others has in the past; not participating in anything related to politics, not voting or taking up political positions. As someone rightly said:'Who ever govern the economy, governs your life.' We need to be in the corridor of power or elect the right kind of people to impart those changes WE want where we are, in Nigeria or/and most especially in Canada. ....to be continued #theeverythingcanada #politics #Canada #Nigeria

Is anyone awake? In my last post I said I wanted to 'wa se ku ise owo mi'....this is an opportunity right I need to start a business ASAP to take advantage of all these available resources and aids.... Incidentally I had this conversation with a few people in my circle recently discussing that it is by owning a business that one can indeed have control over one's time and in turn one's life and if you blow* and the business succeeds with savvy investments, you can leave a legacy and wealth for your children and children's children. I work in the 'Immigrants Business Service' unit and know for a fact that there a lot of government aids and grants available to entrepreneurs especially immigrant entrepreneurs. So if you are thinking of starting a business, now is the time! If you are still in your home country, planning to land in Canada soon and you are thinking in this line, start your research on how to start a business in the province of your choice. Let me go and continue brainstorming on my business ideas. Whew! It is the end of the first week of 'back to school", it is been a relearning experience for me, waking up earlier than I have been waking up in the last five plus months, getting everyone ready and doing school runs. For the children, it's been an exciting time for them to finally be out of the house daily, although for my 4 year old mummy's boy wants to have the best of both worlds. He wants to go to school but wants Mummy to be there as well.... Really, I don't know how I survived working at home with the children for that long, it was on the first day back to school that I understood the phrase 'silence is golden'....adapting this in my context, the quietness of my house during school hours has been so wonderful just to say the least. I am grateful to God that they are out of the house (quiet house..), learning, having fun and that I am still working from home, aside the comfort, the fact we don't have to pay extra for before and after school services is a blessing! Now it's time to strategize and "wa ise kun ise owo mi' general translation 'add skills to the work of my hand' . Please comment below to give me ideas on what I can do 'nagode'.
