Darlynn Belleus-Funeral Director

Hello! For everyone who doesn’t know me, my name is Darlynn Belleus and I would like to introduce myself and why I decided to go into the funeral industry. When I was 9 years old, I watched a movie called My Girl with Anna Chlumsky and Macaulay Culkin. After watching the movie pretty close to 10 times, I decided to go to my mother who was cooking in the kitchen to let her know that I was going to become a funeral director and that I would live in a funeral home. Well, tha...t didn’t go so great! I was told that I couldn’t be a funeral director because it’s a scary industry that she and my father wouldn’t want me to choose. She said Become a nurse, a doctor or maybe a lawyer, but not a funeral director! This statement stuck with me until I got older and through many education and career choices, I decide to become a flight attendant. I travelled the world, and have been for over 9 years. This career allowed me to see the world and meet different people and I am very grateful for this. Despite me being very happy with my life, I felt like something was missing and I needed to go back to school in case I could not continue flying for whatever reason. So, 5 years ago I decided to go back to school after completing a self development forum through Landmark. At landmark, I learned about blind spots and how sometimes, we share with people what we want to do or accomplish in our lives and for whatever reason, they can somehow discourage us to follow through with our hopes, dreams and goals. After my self development break through and my very amazing supportive friends and family, I decided to apply to school to follow my dreams to becoming a funeral director. I have been very blessed an happy to continue not only travelling the world but also serving grieving families and assisting them during some pretty challenging times even before Covid-19 affected all our lives. I’ve now been a funeral director with Basic Funerals and Cremation Choices for just about one year and I am always looking to learn more so that I can serve our community and our families better.
