Can't wait to make this project this week! I'll share my pictures with you https://www.facebook.com/113414933754224/videos/421166792563379/
Great article with interviews with 2 local horticulturalists, Tommy Wingreen (coordinator of my program at Algonquin) & Sarah Shapiro, Horticultural Therapist "Caring for something else has a way of helping one care for themselves"
I'm going to try some different color themes in planters this year. I love the look of this pink begonia with euphorbia 'diamond frost' and dichondra 'Silver Falls' What do you think?
Snow drawings created between December 12, 2019, and the end of the European ski season

These turkeys have been at our place all day. They hit a gold mine with all the scattered seed from the birdfeeder! #birds #wild #wildlife #gardeningincanada #nature #turkey #wildturkey
For those of you who do not know me, here's a little more info than you probably need! I am currently a professional gardener working for my own company, The Fine Gardener, here in Ottawa. I adore working with people to educate them on all things that grow. I love to help people feel successful in their attempts to work with the natural world, especially their own gardens. I've spent 30 years in the horticultural industry in some capacity, largely in retail management, runn...ing garden centres. I began gardening for others on a part time basis in the GTA close to 10 years ago. I gave up the corporate world almost 5 years ago & transplanted (ha ha...see what I did, there? ) to Ottawa with the anticipation of grand baby #1 ( who is now 4) Grand baby #2 is almost 2 now & I could not have been happier to make the life change to be so close to them! I am extremely fortunate. With my company, The Fine Gardener, I enjoy doing garden maintenance, educating people on their living things, helping grow native & pollinator friendly gardens, edible landscapes, as well as all things pretty & floral including 4 season planters. I am a certified member of CAPS (Canadian Property Stylists) and enjoy being a featured speaker at the Home & Garden Shows as well as Horticultural Societies and Garden Clubs. All though I am booked for regular clients, I will have the opportunity this summer for consultations. During the winter you can find me teaching pest management & plant health at Algonquin College as well as hosting various live plant workshops. I am so surprised at how much I love living in Ottawa & am so happy to learn more about supporting the local economy. I grew up on the East Coast & learned to garden in a crevice on the side of a cliff. I found Ottawa to have a similar small town vibe in a bigger city & have enjoyed my time here thoroughly! Once all this silliness is over, I'd be happy to hold a private workshop for you and your people or create a customized lunch & learn for a team building corporate event! Follow my gardening page for growing tips and more: https://www.facebook.com/thefinegardener/?ref=bookmarks If you'd like a wonderful source of inspiration, I've collaborated with Decor Therapy Plus to share a variety of decorative projects, inside & out. Both gnomies were finished & placed in their winter home at my daughters place just as the snow began yesterday. They'll be guardians of the pond.
A friend just sent me this & thinks I should add to my new garden. I'll have to think on that one

Good advice. Lower light levels = changing your watering routine.
