Stock up ASAP, Regular Winter Hours Begin Again Jan 10th Hey Fruit Shack Fans! Just a reminder that we always take some family time over the holidays and close the store for a couple of weeks. (see below for hours)... So be sure to get down here ASAP to fill your freezer with the best Drug & Hormone Free meats in the area. Also don't forget that our Home-Grown Apples are amazingly delicious and nutritious. What better way to start the New Year after all of the Christmas goodies, than reaching for a Fruit Shack grown Apple for yourself or the kids. However, that being said, if company pops in unexpectedly, and they will. If you have correctly planned ahead, you will save the day, by simply do the following: - Pre-heat your oven to 200F - Reach in the back of the freezer and move the strategically placed, 2 year old bag of half eaten frozen peas to the side, only to reveal Fruit Shack Buttertarts that you ordered ahead with this day in mind - Pop those bad-boys on to a cookie sheet and slide them in the oven for about 10-15 minutes. - Then let sit on the counter for about 10 minutes while the coffee finishes percolating and wow those unexpected visitors. - Finally, prepare the spare bedroom, because they saw more buttertarts in the back of the freezer and they ain't leaving till they're done. The Fresh Turkeys and Hams have finally all arrived. After having made my list and checked it twice, three, actually 4 or more times (I do my very best to ensure everyone gets their Holiday Turkey or Ham) I have some very good news for the procrastinators: As of this very instant, I have the following available: 2 Small Fresh Turkeys (12 lb range) 2 Large Fresh Turkeys (23lb range)... 2 Bone-In Country Hams (16lb range) 2 Blackforest Hams (3.5-4lb range) For those of you just realizing Christmas is less than 5 days away....yep, it's happening, or for those of you who are going to someone else's house for dinner and they never give you doggie bags, then grab a turkey or ham and make it on Boxing Day. Or put it the freezer and enjoy it in January, when we are hit with sub-zero temperatures, your snowed in and don't want to go outside, because that's probably going to happen too. Side Note: When I cook my Bone-In ham, I cook it covered, low and slow, adding plenty of sliced onions and a can of Rootbeer for the spicy sweetness....Yummy!!! The ham just flakes off the bone....anyone else drooling? ... Back to the business at hand, if you need one of the above, please Respond to this email ASAP. If you love Tree-Ripened Fruit Shack grown Sweet Cherries, share this post, because we are now picking and OPEN everyday 9am-6pm. We grow our cherries in specially designed High-Tunnels with a plastic tarp to keep the rain off of the cherries to prevent cracking and we use netting along the sides to keep the birds out. What does all that do? We are able to let our cherries ripen on the tree longer since we are not concerned about rain cracking or birds destroying our crop.... This means the cherries are sweeter, bigger and more nutritious and best of all, they taste great! See you today at The Fruit Shack.
