An at-home yoga challenge for you today: Roll out your mat, lay on your belly or back, take 3 of your deepest breathes. How do you feel? Ask your body what it needs, and move your body accordingly. This exercise tunes you into your bodys innate wisdom and intuition.... https://gentlehatha.com/2020/03/22/practicing-yoga-at-home/
Thank you to everyone who has pre-registered for our online summer yoga session! Looking forward to seeing you all on "zoom" tomorrow <3 https://gentlehatha.com/yoga-schedule-and-location/
My friend Rob has recently become a certified meditation instructor, and in this 10-minute video he guides you through a lovely "forest bathing" experience... without leaving your house! Of course, I recommend using this as a template for your next meditative outdoor forest experience ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch
Weve added a new video to our YouTube channel and resources web page! So this happened during zoom tonight...The Light took over my class!
Online yoga classes begin next week! You can view the schedule and prices via the website link; please pre-register by this Friday, July 10th. Gratitude! https://gentlehatha.com/yoga-schedule-and-location/
Registration has opened for online summer classes! https://gentlehatha.com/2020/06/28/online-yoga-classes/
In case you were wondering... the summer plan is to move all classes to Zoom, until we can resume to "normal" classes in person. The local churches have decided to stay closed, and the soonest we will get back to the regular sessions would be September. Fingers crossed for that! https://gentlehatha.com/yoga-schedule-and-location/
My good friend (Rob Owens) has started a meditation blog along with taking a variety of meditation (teacher) trainings. Hes going to be offering classes via zoom soon, so if youre interested check out his website! https://spiritkeep.ca/
Stay tuned for yoga class updates... Im not eager to expose myself or others to potential risk, so bare with me! I see places of worship are allowed to re-open, but only "outdoor" fitness facilities are allowed to open... curious which box we fit into. https://www.cbc.ca//covid-10-coronavirus-ontario-june-8-st
If you are feeling the serious need for some "renewal" in your life... I am putting together packages for you to use in the comfort of your own home. I know its not the same as our lovely gatherings, but for now, it is the best I can do to tie us over until classes and workshops begin again <3 https://gentlehatha.com/2020/05/23/spring-renewal-in-2020/
I picked up a few custom yoga band goodies - most are just single availability and only in the size you see it in. I cannot get it in other sizes or quantities. Grab them if you want them! Links will be with each photo and will show you what size/availability.

This. Was really hard to write. I am not an expert in the field of such crisis that are affecting us all right now... but I tried to share from my humble experience, that which might be able to help others. Stay safe <3 ... https://gentlehatha.com///11/that-which-we-cannot-control/

Last night I dreampt that all my yoga ladies started showing up at my door... one by one we gathered and laughed, and it was very joyful. People fell asleep everywhere, on the couch, floors, beds, and even in the bathroom. The next day more people showed up, family and friends, and husbands of the yoga ladies ;) and everyone stayed over again. The next day, my apartment had turned into a huge house, and it was summer time, and there was a big window looking out onto the yard... where I was watching people play mini-put-golf, drinking wine, and laughing. I felt very happy, content, and proud of the community we had created together. Im missing all of you, and look forward to gathering again, hopefully sooner than later <3 In the meantime, stay safe.
One of my students requested I write a blog "things over which we have no control"... and Ive been mulling it over. This quote seems fitting to share, in the meantime. Sometimes we just have to trust ourselves and the process of life and nature... very challenging in difficult times. Friends, please stay home if you can. Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better; and for those of you who have to keep working my heart goes out to you. You are SO appreciated i...n our community, and needed. We each need to take responsibility for our part in keeping this virus at bay, please do so <3
Im guessing this means, the soonest we will get back to yoga will be April 21st... sigh. Please, please, please help stop the spread of this virus by self-isolating, or at the very least ensure you are practicing physical-distancing properly. The more we socialize and spread, the longer it will take for us to get back to yoga classes, school, and work. ... I will send out another newsletter update soon <3 https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontario-premier-doug-ford-extend
Me and my kid have managed to avoid people for 2 whole weeks now... and a part of our entertainment has been to make Thomas The Train Wooden Railway Series videos together. The biggest challenge is our internet, it takes about 40 minutes to upload a 1-minute video... but hey, weve got nothing but time! We uploaded the videos into their own playlist on my channel. Feel free to check them out, if you get bored of yoga ;) ... How are you passing the time? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4opMDfUyNncIH_fTOfwrbw
How is everyone doing? Every day I move my body in some way. Usually a walk in the morning, some core work and yoga in the afternoon, and if Im feeling really ambitious I throw in some hula-hooping. Today, I felt emotionally spent, and all I could do was lay on my belly and BREATHE. My neck and shoulders are aching from extra time talking on the phone, texting, and playing a few rounds of spider solitaire before bed... not my norm. ... After a few minutes of deep breathing, I sat up and moved through some slow shoulder rolls and neck circles, and was surprised how much better I felt. SO. SIMPLE. I finished with a supported back bend on my yoga bolster, allowing my heart to open and body soften again. Surrender. My point is, doing yoga at home, on your own, does not have to be complicated or challenging. Sometimes its just 5 minutes and a few deep breathes.
