A #carbon #price is a fee on carbon #dioxide released into the air. It is an #approach to reducing carbon #emissions. It was created to encourage emissions reductions wherever and however, they can be achieved at a low cost. Achieving #net-#zero carbon dioxide emissions by balancing carbon emissions with carbon removal or simply eliminating carbon emissions is known as Carbon #neutrality, or having a net-zero carbon #footprint. There are #industries embracing #research, to reduce carbon emissions, while discouraging them at the moment to grow, thus putting negative pressure on the #economy. Carbon pricing is having its own challenges on how much to charge for each ton of emissions? A crucial element of a carbon pricing #policy. Carbon prices, in theory, balance the benefits and costs of emissions reductions. However, the cost of carbon cannot be estimated with sufficient accuracy to provide any practical #value to #policymakers setting carbon prices. Will pairing a net-zero emissions #target with #policies that can rapidly reduce emissions right away would be sufficient to achieve net-zero emissions?.
