Finished the dragon pen. Turned out beautifully. The cold nearly won out. Hopefully the story takes the same route too.

Life is like a burl, you never know what youre gonna get. Antique brass dragon pen with sunset orange maple burl in the works. Doing some squats while the CA dries. #penturning #squats #staywarm #brantford #nicewood

Having turned a few bowls, I decided to purchase an Easy Wood Tools (EWT) finisher carbide cutter. Less sharpening, good for inside bowls, and virtually no learning curve. That said, I will continue to work on my traditional chisel turning. Its cold in the shed but a blank is waiting and this carbide cutter is calling. #woodturning #EasyWoodTools #brantford

As mentioned in my last post, this is the bench grinder w/ Wolverine sharpening attachment. It sounds nonsensical, but a sharp tool is a safe tool. This attention to a chisels bevel angle is a good real life application of mathematical principles of angles and degrees. I might not have gave a hoot about some tools in a musky smelling shed littered with dust back in school, but its an activity grounded with a referential framework transferable to other real activities as opposed to an abstract number and a floaty circle we calculated to find b because reasons.

Two wands. The Lacewood gummed up the chisels while turning. Thankfully I had the bench grinder and wolverine sharpening jig by One Way. A quick back and forth and the chisel was clean and sharp again.

Had a bit of trouble shaping the tips in the design. The online #woodturning community was helpful. Itll do til I can make the more costly additions to the shop.

Bloodwood hairpins getting started and what doth mine eye behold? The kin of those most fae sought to keep my mundane shop under close and tiny eye. Mushroom caps even nestled in the rich ground neath nearby trees. But what a woeful sight to see a wing bereft of body. What miniscule minion hath protected this small unadorned shop? Fae! Most fae can be said of mine protector. That they, having danced upon the wind, have gone whither I know not in the smoke of the night. #faerystories #writingprompt

I struggle with faces. Cant do a good eye and all I end up with is old men faces. So I lean towards a mask like design as seen at the bottom. #whittling #basswood
