Taking advantage of the beautiful weather today.

Though this year looks a little bit different we can still stand and reflect about the sacrifices the brave men and women of the @canadianforces have made. Even though we can not gather at a ceremony and pay our respects as normal, we can still pause at the 11th hour, reflect and remember all that we owe to those who served us. Hopefully next year we will be out again and commemorating the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. It is always an honor to participate in @citybrampton ceremony to provide a fly over with our airplanes. #greatwarflyingmuseum #aviationhistory #fokker #redbaron #radialsfordays #ww1 #1111 #remberanceday #sopwith #rcaf #raf
At the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month 1918, the guns stopped. Since that day, we have also paused to remember those who have put on the uniform, left their loved ones, and served their country overseas. The following never returned home:... World War One - 59,694 World War Two - 45,500 Korean War - 516 UN Operations - 130 NATO Operation Yugoslavia - 23 Afghanistan - 158
On a beautiful, warm November day, we have thrown open the doors of the hanger and rolled up our sleeves. Work on several projects continue, full steam ahead!
A favorite every year at the @bramptonflightcentre Airport Day is the re-enactment of the Red Barron shoot down between our S.E.5 a, the Fokker Dr1, and the Princes Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry re-enactors. Major James McCudden, VC, DSO and Bar, MC and Bar, MM, who our S.E.5 a replicated after, did not participate in the shoot down of Manfred Von Richthofen but they did encounter eachother in 1916. The barron firing some 300 rounds at McCudden but none hit his DH2 airc...raft. Sadly James McCudden died July 9th 1918 due to a flawed carburetor on his S.E.5 a that he had just picked up at the factory in England the day before his death. He would be credited with 57 victories and the 7th highest scoring ace of the First World War. : Ted Zier-Vogel/ picmyhorse.com pictures 1 &2 : Alex Revell historynet.com
Hi again everyone. The bad news is that we're still closed to the public and have only had a few members coming in to complete the extension and do some work on the aircraft. The good news is that the Triplane has flown for the first time this year. So far 4 of our pilots have taken it up to keep their flying skills sharp. It's not the easiest to fly, so it's good practice for them.
Hi everyone. Now that the restrictions have been eased a bit, we're having a few of the aircraft maintenance members come in and finish the work that was ongoing this winter. As you may recall, the hangar is having an extension added and like everything else this work came to a stop. Now that the Contractors are back to work progress is being made. Next will come the clean-up! We are still closed to the rest of the membership and to the public until further notice.
We join all of Canada in mourning the loss of Capt.Jennifer Casey.
Even though we're closed, we've decided to honour Anzac Day by raising the New Zealand flag this year at the hangar.
The Board of Directors has decided that the museum will stay closed until further notice. Stay well friends. We'll have a big get together when this is all over.
In an attempt to help prevent spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Board of Directors of The Great War Flying Museum has decided we must adhere to best practices advised by public health authorities and close until 30th March. At that point a re-appraisal of the situation will determine future action. We hope to see you all out at the Museum again soon.
Look who is on the cover of the March issue of Air Classics!

After checking the latest weather forecast we've decided to cancel our flights for tomorrow. If anyone wishes to join us at the museum we will be holding a brief Remembrance Ceremony.
A beautiful shot from Airport Day 2019! It’s been over 10 years since we’ve had 6 WWI planes airborne at the same time. Here’s to another 10 years and even more planes taking flight to commemorate living history! www.greatwarflyingmuseum.org #greatwarflyingmuseum #flying #history #brampton #ontario #canada
