Saint-Saens Bachannale - one of our works coming up for 20-21!
Our audition music for the 20-21 season is now online. At some point we WILL make music all together again. We all need to keep plans rolling for the future; it helps remind us there is hope! So here at the GYSO we're proceeding with September 2020 in mind. We'll adjust as we must, if and when the time comes. But right now you have this to tackle: get started on your audition video today! www.gyso.ca
With local and provincial Public Health Offices making great efforts to protect the public, we too wish to protect our students, their families, and our audiences members from possible exposure to COVID-19. So, after a good deal of deliberation, the GYSO Steering Committee has decided to cancel the remaining GYSO rehearsals and concert. There is no rehearsal on March 19th or 26th, and no concert on the 28th. At this time there is no plan to reschedule the performance. The GYS...O relies on income from ticket sales to help make membership in the orchestra affordable and available to all the talented musical youth of our community. Ticket sales also significantly help GYSO operation. We want the GYSO to continue to grow and be available and affordable to youth for many years and decades to come! Please consider donating what would have been your ticket cost for the March 28th Concert to the GYSO by visiting https://www.gyso.ca/sponsorship. We immensely appreciate your support. Happier news! - GYSO Audition Materials will be posted by April 1st on our website, and auditions will proceed as planned via video submission. The repertoire for next year is: Beethoven Egmont Saint-Saƫns Bachannale from Samson & Delilah Handel Alchemist Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique Prokofiev Symphony No. 5 And, the GYMC will likely be offering 4-week music theory courses as early as late April (depending on how social distancing continues to unfold)!
