I cant tell you how heavy and hot down-to-the-waist dreads are in 35 and humidity! I decided it was time for a change. But I just couldnt buzz the whole thin...g off...not after the emotional scarring of The-Year-of-the-Short-Hair-With-Hairsprayed-Combover in grade 7. So I decided to try something more creative and on a friends recommendation went to The Hair Pin in Kitchener. After some discussion with the hairdresser I decided to go with buzzing the bottom half. When we got to the part where she buzzes a design into the sides (a tattoo, apparently), the hairdresser asked me if I had something specific in mind. Not really, I said. I did think about it but didnt really come up with anything. Do you just want me to do some simple lines? Sure! Do whatever you think would look good. I trust you! While she buzzed, the hairdresser asked me some more about my life and we chatted. As she finished up, she said: Im glad you told me more about your journey while I was working on it! I reflected it in the lines. On the right side theyre curved and flowing around your ear but then change direction, just like your life has several times. On the left I did straighter more rigid lines, because youve had times like that in your life also. But Im making sure right now to join the lines from the two sides up so they flow together into one. Thats really important. Me: !!!!!!! Thank you, Tina and The Hair Pin! Great news everyone! We will be re opening the salon on Tuesday June 16, 2020. Please be patient with us.

When can I get a haircut? Sadly the government has not given a date yet for salons to be legally reopening. In fact, we have not even been told whether were phase 2 or phase 3! Why? Because were a high risk industry, due to close proximity, for a notable period of time. ... The government wants to be cautious, to ensure hospitals remain at reasonable capacity, and be able to trace back infections via testing. They will also have requirements for mutual safety, yours and mine. This is an extremely heavy, financial blow to a lot of stylists, and business owners. In spite of that, many agree that we prefer safety measures over financial gain. We care about you! Anyone cutting hair for money now faces hefty fines and loss of license (if they even have one). Theyre playing with your lives and cheating the professionals who care about you. Please avoid them or report them to the local health unit. So hang on, friends, well get there together...
