Remembrance Day is a day for all Canadians to remember the men and women who served and sacrificed for our country. It is a day we encourage every individual, young and old, to pause, to give thanks and to remember.
Wonderful news story within our community.
A Vernon man appears to have discovered a piece of forgotten local history when he came across a trophy from a mysterious skiing competition on Silver Star Mountain, which dates back more than 80 years. https://www.vernonmorningstar.com//vernon-mans-trophy-fin/

In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month, our hamlets family (residents and team members) wore pink today.
Our residents always enjoy seeing friends and family dressed up in Halloween costumes. This year, things are going to be a little different and unfortunately, we will not be able to welcome trick or treaters into The Hamlets. We don’t want to miss out on all the Halloween fun, so we are asking family and friends to send us photos of themselves and children (and pets) dressed up in their costume. You can submit your photos by sending them in email to [email protected] or by leaving the photo in the comments below. Make sure to include the names of all people (pets) in photo as well as letting us know if you are related to anyone here at The Hamlets. We will print the photos and post them within the hamlets for residents and team members to enjoy. We look forward to seeing all your photos.
Happy Thanksgiving day!! Wishing you and yours all the best.
Thanks-a-latte! Our Coffee Cart was busy delivering delicious lattes to our Hamlet family.
Our "tree of thanks" has been hung and residents and team members are encouraged to include a message of thanks, over the Thanksgiving weekends. It didn't take long for the leaves to appear. We are excited to see what will come over the weekend. What are you thankful for during this Thanksgiving weekend?
We love our neighbours at Little Miracles Preschool- LMP and are so thankful they stopped by for a window visit with our residents today. We loved seeing all the smiles and waves (from both the children and our residents).
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. On Tuesday, October 13th, we are asking all residents, team members, contractors, designated visitors, friends and family members to wear pink in honour of Breast Cancer awareness. Don't forget to share your photos with us on our Facebook page.
Have you ever considered turning your love and compassion for our vulnerable elders into action by becoming a Care Aide in BC? Was the impossibility of taking time off work or taking on a student loan simply something that has prevented you from taking that step? The Government of BC announced a new program where you will get paid during your training to become a care aide! The program will take approximately a year to complete, but at the end, you will be a registered and fully trained care aide that is able to work anywhere in BC. If you or anyone you know are even remotely interested, check out more about this incredible offer at the link below: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov /content/economic-recovery/work-in-health-care

What a great excuse to share some cute animal pictures - share yours in the comments below! Researchers from the University of Leeds and Tourism Western Australia asked participants to watch cute animal videos as part of a study; after the clips ended, researchers noticed that volunteers' blood pressure dropped to healthy levels and their stress decreased by up to 50 percent. https://www.marthastewart.com//watching-animal-videos-can-
This weekend is a great weekend to visit downtown Vernon and support your favourite local shops and explore new stores. Please remember to keep your social distance, ensuring proper hand hygiene practices and wear your masks. In the words of Dr. Bonnie Henry - "Be kind, be calm and be safe"... #lovethelocal , #togetherwewillgetthroughthis #downtownvernon
Armchair Travel is a fun activity that our residents have been enjoying over the summer. Each month our Recreation team (with the help of the residents) selects a country to virtually visit and creates an afternoon event. This month our residents visited Germany. We thought we would share a couple of photos of the food they sampled, and some the information they learned along their journey. A special Thank you to HOT BREAD Shoppe for their delicious pretzels and Helmut's Sausage Kitchen for the Bratwurst, both were featured as our menu items for this event.
