Announcement: We wanted to share that The Happening Ottawa will be wrapping up over the next few months. It has been a real pleasure for us to celebrate and promote the arts and businesses in #WellingtonWest and give back to the community through volunteering with the #Happening. It is, however, time for us to leave on a high note and allow us to spend time on other personal and professional projects. The festival, formerly "Hintonburg Happening," has been an active part o...f our evolving Hood for 7 years. We thank the volunteers who have pitched in and worked with us over that time! The core team -- SJ Baird of The Hintonburg Public House, Jamie McLennan of CharacterCreative, Brenda Dunn aka Artinjest, and MaryBeth Wolicky (public servant) -- have kept the planning, relationship building including sponsorship, on-point creative, and active and engaging social media going year-round, culminating in the annual spring festivals. We are proud of the funds and awareness we have raised over the years and of the art installations in the community. Most importantly, we treasure the relationships we have built with artists, business owners and our neighbours. We *do* have funds we raised through the festivals and are confirming plans to support groups in the community that support the arts and community. We were very happy to start with a $500 donation to the annual Carleton Tavern Christmas Dinner. Stay tuned for news about other donations. Best wishes for 2020! Thank yous coming below.
