Our planet, our earth, Mother Nature. Plants are the source of life. They nourish our minds, body and souls. Protect our planet. #happyearthday2020

Check out Sean Fillion and G2V Optics Inc. on Global TV Edmonton chatting about growing food indoors year-round in Canada. It’s possible and achievable with proper equipment, lighting and technology. Freshly grown, nutritionally dense products, grown locally. This is part of a food security cycle, which can be achieved anywhere in the world with government support, access to capital and talent. The question is no longer about just being able to grow indoor leafy greens well, but providing the tools necessary to grow any fruit or vegetable, anywhere, in soil, indoors, year round. Do this well and we can solve many problems. #agtech #verticalfarming https://globalnews.ca//edmonton-company-sees-the-light-for

Now that you've done some planting, having a few issues? Issues are common in growing but don't fear, most are easy to resolve. https://morningchores.com/plant-leaves-turning-yellow/

During WWI, home gardens, called "Victory Gardens" were encouraged to help food supply chains out & provide food security. Now with technology, indoor vertical farms can add to this solution. #AgTech #urbanfarming #verticalfarming https://www.weforum.org//grow-your-own-urban-farming-flour

The ability to "just" jet off to the grocery store and buy what we need is a reality for most of us in North America. But what if we cant get what we need? Is it time to bring back the home garden? What about urban farming? #AgTech https://www.cnn.com//poli/what-matters-april-13/index.html

Feeling like you need something to do to combat some boredom? How about planting some vegetables? New to gardening and dont know where to get started? Herbs are the easiest starter plants I find. Minus Basil which can be cranky and dill is my ultimate favourite herb. Ive attached a great vegetable planting calendar and guide on what you can grow together! Just click below. Secondly, did you know that Golden Acres in Calgary is offering free shipping right now if you order $...100 or more? They have everything you need - seeds, soil, seed plugs, nutrients etc! Need suggestions? Want some websites to look at? Have questions? Feel free to DM us! Happy Planting! https://www.anglianhome.co.uk//Vegetable-growing-cheat-she

Wed like to reach out to all our HH fans and update you. While our office is temporarily closed, our farm is still growing away! We decided early on in this Covid-19 pandemic, that wed take our family to the mountains where we have a property. Weve been living here these past few weeks, working from our cabin, taking conference calls on our deck, preparing our greenhouse for spring, figuring out how to home school our daughter and spending time with our family. We are for...tunate that we can monitor our farm from here (thanks technology) and we still have boots on the ground helping our little farm along. While we dont know how long we will be here, our focus and priority is on our family first. Secondly, is keeping our business moving along. We have such an exciting 2020 ahead and although the world is rocky right now, we are focused with helping and employing others as much as we can, and moving forward on our projects, opportunities and the many conversations happening around food security, sustainability and access. We couldnt be prouder of all the work we are accomplishing when it comes to building and improving our indoor soil-based equipment to allow people to grow diverse foods, anywhere, regardless of environment. In your home, in your community or on an industrial level. Keep posted for some fun content over the next month as we aim to keep you entertained! Wishing you all good health, happiness, love and peace during this time. Alina & Sean

If we are going to grow more than greens in indoors, successfully, more crops are needed & transplant plants are an option. But we need to talk about plant genetics. How? Read here. #agtech #indoorfarms #verticalfarming https://urbanagnews.com//exclusives/can-vertical-farms-be/

Our stuff was stolen!! Someone stole 75 grow pots out of our warehouse. Basically, all the rest of our inventory. As a start-up, losing money like this is felt extremely hard. If anyone sees our grow pots, fabric in style, for sale anywhere or if anyone has them, please let us know. Heres a photo.

At our farm, we plant indoors in soil, in a controlled environment. We are not a greenhouse and we are not a hydroponic vertical farm. We build soil-based vertical farm equipment. This week we planted black nebula carrots and Shawo fruit radishes. We can grow anything. #agtech #urbanfarm #thefutureoffarming

Is the soil on our earth really eroding? Could we actually run out of food? We built our farming equipment so that it could grow anything, indoors, in soil, anywhere. In Singapore, in London, in Arizona or in downtown Calgary empty office spaces or parkades. Or, imagine growing a small farm in your house or condo, easily? Fresh vegetables year-round regardless of season? Amazing. Today, most vertical farms are water based, which means they do a great job of growing leafy gr...eens - lettuces, basil, cannabis and some are doing an exceptional job at strawberries, tomatoes and cucumbers. But, they are struggling to grow deep-root vegetables. Items such as carrots, beets, celery, melons and cauliflower need soil to grow. Or how about growing your own lavender or saffron or lemon verbena? The possibly are endless. As the world shifts, so are vertical farms. They are evolving to become more sustainable, more predictable and more common place. Some say the next generation of vertical farmers are here. Soil, nutrient dense plants and robotics are all things that are needed as we grow along the business life cycle path. Vertical farming is an addition to tradition farming - not a replacement. We need to work together. The future of farming is here. https://www.theguardian.com//topsoil-farming-agriculture-f

Urban agriculture is here to stay. It isnt about fancy ingredients ultimately. Its a viable path to food security and accessibility. Why? #agtech #innovation #agriculture https://www.farmersweekly.co.za//how-urban-agriculture-ca/

Today we were blessed to meet our new Harvest Hub team at the University of Calgary. We were chosen as their project of the year at the Schulich School of Engineering. We couldnt be more delighted to work alongside these talented students and faculty. Bright young minds that want to make food more accessible and secure for all. We joked this is our before picture, before all the hard work starts. If you havent thought of working with a University, College or Trades School - you should. Its a win win for everyone.

One of the challenges today in vertical farming is the lack of ability to grow diverse ingredients at scale. The second challenge is farm profitability. These farms are expensive to build and to operate as this article highlights. Most plants grown today in vertical farms are leafy greens. One of the reasons for this is that farmers typically have limited choices of growing equipment. They are either growing in water, hydroponically or using a combination of oxygen and water..., aeroponics. All of these methods are exceptionally good at growing leafy greens. The challenge is lettuce is cheap and it doesnt fully resolve food security issues. We cant do that without soil. Soil based agriculture is at the root of food sustainability. Without being able to grow deep root plants such as carrots - indoor, technology driven agriculture has a long way to go. Thats where we come in. We purpose built vertical farming equipment that is soil-based. We can grow anything. Congrats Steve Platt, wed love to chat. #agtech #verticalfarming https://agfundernews.com/brightfarms-appoints-new-ceo-as-fo

One of the biggest questions we get is: "What do you exactly do?" To put it simply, we manufacture growing equipment for indoor farms. Do we have a farm? Yes, R&D is the at the centre of everything we do. We are continually growing plants in our proprietary equipment to make it better, everyday. Measuring, recording, growing, testing, watering, assembling, innovating, adapting and pushing traditional boundaries, just name a few. This article really outlines what is happenin...g in the space and what the future of technology driven agriculture can look like. Its a vastly changing industry and at the core of it is people like us, innovating and trying to change the world a little bit. https://www.reuters.com//us-vertical-farms-growth-idUSKCN1 See more
