To all of you who have old steel or galvanized pipe fittings in you home plumbing or irrigation. If you are having problems with pressure or flow, this is probably why. I see this a lot. This galvanized pipe nipple came off of water storage tank. Just rust and corrosion building up over time.

Its that time of year, when I get a bunch of people asking me if they can turn on their irrigation system. I still think the overnight temperatures are too cold, and I know the ground is still frozen, Albeit be at 6 to 7 inches or more down. My advice, lets wait until after Easter. Any questions feel free to contact me.

I always get the question - How long should I run my sprinklers for? It is a hard question to answer because it varies based on what sprinkler heads you have installed, temperature, wind etc. Ideally when the temperature is above 20 degrees I recommend putting down 1" per week. You can visit the manufacturer web sites to get the info on how much water your sprinkler heads put down. As always, it is better to water heavier and less often, as well as in the morning before the wind picks up! For further info, contact me.
Sometimes tree roots cause the biggest issues! Completed crushed pipe. It was also stretched and lifted about 5".
Getting lots of calls asking if it is to early to turn on the water for sprinklers. With the forecast and decent over night lows, I say turn em on!
First pump assembly of the season! Only three weeks ahead of schedule. Loving the warmer weather. Its good for business.

Well, so ends another awesome season. Thank you to all of my clients. I appreciate all the business. Stay tuned for my updated web store. Happy winter!
Dont forget to book a system winterization as soon as possible. I have a few spots left for Chestermere and Strathmore! My final day of operation this season is October 11th.
With all the rain and devastation in Chestermere and surrounding areas, it is a good time to remind people with underground sprinklers to shut them off. It is also a good time to recommend those without rain sensors to have one installed. They come in wired and wireless forms. I recommend the Hunter Wireless Rain/Freeze Clik. It not only shuts the system down when it rains, it will shut the system down during low temperatures to avoid icing on sidewalk and plant material. I can install one on just about any system for $160. Call me if you are interested!
Did you know the best time to water your plant material, be it grass, annuals, perennials, trees and bushes is in the early morning? The wind is usually calm, and the temperature cool. Watering in the evening can create mold and mildew situations due to lengthy drying time or not drying at all over night. Watering during the heat of the day is a waste of water. Studies suggest that up to 50% of the water you use will evaporate, depending on wind and temperature.
Dropping in our rebuilt pumps at Lakeside. Firing up the irrigation!
Just got my work truck done up with a new window logo and website address. Looks good! Thanks to Jenny at Phoenix Signs here in Strathmore.
After much work and redo after redo, my full website is up and running, including the online store. Please share this with your friends and family. I would appreciate the help! and any feedback. Cheers! www.irrigationspecialist.ca
I have had a lot of people ask me if it is to early to turn on your underground sprinklers, and the answer is YES!!!! First, there is no need. We have had plenty of moisture and although the ground looks dry, if you dig a test hole you will find tons of moisture and even a lot of frozen areas still. Second, night temps are still falling below zero and can freeze the outside water feed. Be patient, the time will come.
Almost done setting up the online store. There will be 25 products for sale with over 100 different sizes and model numbers. Feel free to check it out. The store should be up and running by March 15th. All you need to do an irrigation system on your own!
