The Island Walk 11.08.2020

Section 7-8 on the Island Walk takes you from OLeary to Miminegash! Start your journey on the Confederation Trail, then switch to dirt road walking and ends with a short walk along the shoulder of Rte 14 with views of stunning coastal vistas. While in OLeary be sure to visit the Canadian Potato Museum and learn about the history of the potato industry and why it so important to PEI! Also make sure to stop at the Maple House Bakery and Cafe for some delicious food before he...ading out on this section of the Island Walk. The section 6-7 of the Island Walk takes you from McNeils Mills to OLeary! This section will take you along the Confederation Trail walking through some small communities.Pass through Portage, the narrowest part of PEI (less than one km wide). An Interesting fact about this section of the walk is the PEI government has designated this section of the Confederation Trail an alternate public road if the TCH is blocked in an emergency! ... Section 5-6 on the Island Walk takes you from Wellington to McNeil Mills! This section of the trail takes you along the Confederation Trail walking through small communities along the way! We recommended taking a side trip to the the beautiful commuinty of Tyne Valley! The amazing Backwoods Burger in Tyne Valley where PEI craft beer is also available Richmond Dairy Bar is also nearby if youre in need of a sweet treat!... Section 3-4 on the Island Walk trail sees you travelling from Borden-Carleton to Summerside! Walk by farms and fields and through small communities, including Central Bedeque. Your destination is The City by The Sea," Explore Summerside, where there is lots to see and do including taking in the colour boardwalk along the ocean! We also recommending rewarding yourself with a delicious treat from Holmans Ice Cream Parlour located in one of the citys oldest heritage properti...es! Section 2-3 on the Island Walk takes you from Victoria to Borden-Carleton. Start out on those famous PEI dirt roads then end the route with some road walking snf stunning views of the Confederation Bridge! Borden-Carleton is a busy little village with great craft beer, great cheer and great food!
