We are excited to announce that our film Journey of Nishiiyuu Directed by Benjamin Masty, was nominated for the Best Documentary Film at the 2019 Weengush Inter...national Film Festival. The WIFF aims to heighten awareness about indigenous and independent filmmakers of diversity in the film and television industry, to educate audiences about First Nation issues in Canada and around the world, to breakdown barriers and stereotypes and to provide a space where Indigenous people can share their own stories. We are thrilled to announce that Journey of Nishiiyuu is one of the Official Selections for the Weengushk International Film Festival. WIFF’s vision is to bring communities together, to not only highlight excellence and opportunity for the filmmakers, but to engage Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities through Indigenous storytelling in the film industry in a region that needs this bridge. It is a festival that celebrates our own narratives. Weengushk International Film Festival’s second annual film festival runs from July 12 to 14, 2019, at the Four Directions Complex in Aundek Omni Kaning First Nation. We are pleased to announce that Kayla Hozjan is the latest addition to our team at Agoodah Pictures, becoming our first Content Development Executive. After wi...nning a university award for Outstanding Achievement in the Direction of Actors for her directorial debut Monday Night, Kayla pursued a Killam Fellowship in Southern California where she studied scriptwriting for film and television with some of the industry’s most acclaimed writers and directors. Upon her return, Kayla also served as a jury member for the Yorkton Film Festival. Kayla will strategize, produce and promote content with her experience as a freelance production writer for companies like Watchmojo, as well as her strong leadership and analytical skills. Her fresh, global vision for content in today’s market will surely be an asset to this position. We are thrilled to welcome her aboard.
