The Krinkle Project 23.01.2021

100 thank you's!!!! Earlier this week, I posted that a private donor had to say no to our annual donation request, which was disappointing. Thanks to the generosity of those below, and a few private donors, we were able to purchase 140 new books, which we hope to distribute before March Break, depending on current lockdown regulations.... The MSRP of these books is over $3600, and I will be able to sort and repack them in a corner of our living room, which works out well. Thank you to: Books In Line Darrel Hotz, Barrister & Solicitor #TheKrinkleProject

Cole Starkman is a second-year student at Wilfred Laurier University. Last year, he founded a company called PPEonDemand.ca which supplies items like face masks, hand sanitizer, and face shields.... Cole, thank you for your generous donation to our program The Krinkle Project. Given your commitment to business, community, and caring, you've got a bright future ahead of you!!! #TheKrinkleProject

Rejection!!!! For the past 5 years, a company has generously donated 800 booked - each year - to our program. We modified our 2021 request, asking for only 200 books. ... BUT still, sales are down, and they had to say no. We are hoping to raise $330 to cover the cost of these books. The prices of many, including these 2, have already been discounted by more than 95%, so they are a great deal. Our goal - to raise $330 To date - we have raised $125 Children who are temporarily living in a Women's Shelter face so many difficulties. Once they leave the shelter, and their family sets up a new home, they take these books with them, ensuring they have a home library set up on day one. Thanks in advance for the consideration, during these difficult times.

What's in the bag? Thank you to Dr. Matthew Orzech & Associates for both your generous donation. Your team went above and beyond, and individually packed these bags, and placed them in the trunk of my car, so that they are ready to deliver. Children who are temporarily living in a Women's Shelter may not be getting regular dental treatments. The products in these bags will help them maintain good oral hygiene, and bring a smile to their faces also.... On behalf of our program, we appreciate your continued support of our program. #TheKrinkleProject

The Krinkle Project 01.01.2021

The Krinkle Project began in July 2015 and we have been fortunate to receive many product and financial donations. To date, we have collected, sorted and distributed just under 130,000 individual items. Books, backpacks, school supplies, hair accessories, night lights, to name just a few. BUT asking for donations in 2021, during a Pandemic, is hard.... Today's email "Unfortunately at this time, we are unable to contribute" was truly disappointing, since this private donor has generously provided us with several thousand books over the past 6 years. I scaled back our request by 75% - from 800 books to 200 books - and ensured that the titles would cover interest from babies to teens ..................... from "Cookie Monster" to books on Instagram to Infographics. The value of these books is $4894 The amount we need to raise - to cover the discounted cost of the books, plus shipping, is $330 As a reminder, our program supports children who are temporarily living in a Women's Shelter. Mothers and their children often leave their home - due to repeated abuse - with almost nothing. Thank you in advance for the consideration. Barb Wiseberg Joey Hotz Co-Founders The Krinkle Project

Our program hopes that we are able to resume distribution at the end of February, assuming current lockdown restrictions ease. As we wait, we continue to collect donations for the women & children who are temporarily living in a Women's Shelter. The tireless volunteers at The Sewing Army have now generously over a thousand masks to our program.... This week, we received over 350 masks, which is just outstanding. Thank you!!!!! #TheKrinkleProject

This coming September, we will also be including a large bag of writing instruments for each shelter, courtesy of Bic Canada. #TheKrinkleProject

Since 2018, our program has strived to minimize our footprint, reducing the amount of paper and plastic we were using. Originally, we sorted all items in individual cellophane bags (hence, the "krinkle" in our krinkle). Next, we moved to plastic bags, that were cheaper and easier to package.... Based on feedback from the shelters we support, we shelved individual bags and sorted all donated in these Rubbermaid Roughnecks. Easier to pack, distribute and better for our planet. In 2020, we had to store these containers away and use cardboard boxes and clear garbage bags, which we would leave at the front door of each shelter, to minimize contact. Fingers crossed, we can resume distribution in 2021, once lockdown ends. And down the road, once COVID is under control, these containers will again be put to good use!!! #TheKrinkleProject

Thank you to Books In Line and Darrel Hotz, Barrister & Solicitor for covering the import and duty taxes, as the donation came from the US.... (We do not unwrap any of these packages, to minimize contact) #TheKrinkleProject
