PLEASE READ: THE LAUNDROMUTT REMAINS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE I understand many of you have likely heard the recent announcement that pet groomers will be able to open effective May 19. I understand this may be very exciting news for many of you. However, I have made the decision to stay closed until I feel safe to open. My family is high risk and members of my family are immunocompromised. ... I do not have the means to SAFELY offer my services at this time. I will continue to keep everyone posted as to when I feel completely safe and comfortable with re-opening. I appreciated everyone's patience and understanding during this difficult time, as my family's health must come first. I COMPLETELY understand that many of you may seek grooming elsewhere temporarily. I encourage you all to do what you feel is necessary for your pet. Thank you all again for your continued support and understanding. Lucas <3

Part 4: Bum/Tail!
Part 3: Head/Face/Ears (This video would have been a bit better had I realized sooner that the first time I did it my camera was not recording )
Part 2: Trimming Feet! Sorry it took so long to get this next part uploaded! (Ended up driving to the Tim Hortons parking lot to get some decent Wi-Fi )
First video up is the prep work! I always brush/bath/blow dry before clipping and scissoring to get a nicer finished look. However, you can still do a decent haircut if the hair isnt perfectly clean! Its most important that the coat is dry and well brushed!
Video is currently uploading but internet is VERY slow so please bear with me!! May not even get uploaded until tomorrow but its on its way!!
Good morning and Happy Monday!! Im planning on grooming Rey, my doodle, later today and will be making a few video clips with some tips and tricks for safe at-home haircuts! If you have ANY questions or concerns related to this, drop them in the comments below and I will do my best to answer them (either in the videos, or just by replying to your comment )
How resident Laundromutt pup, Finn, likes to get his nails trimmed! A lick mat spread with coconut oil (and/or dog-safe peanut butter) up on a raised surface for a delicious and comfortable distraction while I dremel his nails Give something like this a try if you find your pet is struggling to sit calmly for nail trims at home! Important Brushing Guide! (bit of a long post but hopefully this helps some of you ) To help minimize matting, daily brushing (or even every other day) is super important between haircuts, especially now. ... First photo: Areas marked with RED are the most prone to matting and should be brushed the most often. (Toes, armpits, bellies, and where the collar and/or harness sits) Areas marked YELLOW should be second priority, and GREEN is the least prone to matting as their is minimal movement of the coat in that area, but still should be brushed down to the roots as much as possible. The second picture is the difference between a brushed (right) and an unbrushed (left) coat. If your pup looks more like the leg on the right, break out that brush and comb! When the hair can be parted with your fingers and you can EASILY see the skin, you know youve done a good job! If you have a curly pup like me, a well brushed coat will be straightened out quite a bit (this is what we want ) If your pups coat is more naturally straight, look for clumping or unnevenness to the hair, these areas need to be brushed thoroughly! And lastly, keep brushing sessions short and sweet! Make it a fun, positive experience for your dog, with lots of breaks for treats or toys. If your dog has a tendency to run away from brushing, consider putting their leash on and sitting or stepping on it so they can still move around but not escape completely while they learn to accept brushing
I had a few people ask about dremels, so heres a quick tutorial on how I do my big boy Finns nails with a cordless dremel. If you have a small dog, it can often be easier to have someone pick them up and hold them for you, or prop them up on an elevated surface like a counter or table or bed, with a towel or yoga mat under them so they dont slip For large dogs, I recommend either having them lay down if possible, or having them stand on the floor, with an extra person t...o hold them around the chest and waist for extra support and stability Again, please dont hesitate if you have any questions! https://www.amazon.ca/Dremel-7300-PT-Nail-Gro//ref=sr_1_5 (PS sorry for the annoying vertical orientation of the video, Finn was too big and wouldnt fit in the frame of a horizontal video )
Heres a quick little nail trimming tutorial for anyone interested!! One thing I forgot to mention is to have styptic powder or Quik Stop on hand in the event of an accident. Flour or cornstarch (and keeping pressure on the nail for a few seconds) work as well to clot any accidental bleeding! Keep sessions short and sweet! Clip one or two nails, take a 2 minute play break with toys and treats and go back and do a couple more! Keep it light and fun for both you AND your p...up! Below are links to the nail clippers I use and the styptic powder I recommend https://www.renspets.com//q-plier-style-nail-trimmer-with- (comes in small/med/large) https://www.renspets.com//professional-pet-products-nail-s (don't need to use too much, may stain white fur, but washes out easily)

To my valued clients, Due to the increasing spread of the COVID-19 virus I unfortunately have had to make the tough decision to close The Laundromutt for the time being, due to a member of my family being immunocompromised. I will be keeping record of everyones order of appointments, and will be getting back to everyone in that order when I am able to re-open. Your patience and understanding is appreciated, and I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience. Regards,... Lucas See more
