It's always a good thing when you help promote friends and families small home businesses. I have a friend who makes the most beautiful tanned leather products. Have a look and remember, cold weather and Christmas is not That far away!! https://mamabearleather.ca/

August is a difficult month to keep your hanging baskets and planters looking fresh and pretty. The sun is brutally hot, lots of wind and often no rain when you need it most. If you're on a well, you have to watch water usage so you may not be able to water as much as you'd like. Here's a little trick to the trade. I always have a large bucket (or tub) handy that I fill up with water. Submerge your baskets or planters in the bucket of water and you'll notice air bubbles ...escaping to the top. You may have to hold the planter/basket under the water as it will float if it's too dry. Keep the planter/basket submerged until the air bubbles stop, then pull the planter/basket out and let it drain over the bucket (to recapture the water). This ensures the root ball is soaked through (you can do your houseplants at the same time). It takes longer for a well watered plant to dry out. If you let your planters/baskets dry out too often, the inside of the root ball becomes powder dry and difficult to wet.. the water will often just slough off. That is one of the main reason planters and baskets start to look dry, yellowed, brittle and weary this time of year. Also, I feed with liquid fertilizer once a week until about mid July then switch to the pelleted slow release fertilizer. It's easier on the plants when they're stressed from the heat, although a shot of liquid fertilizer once every couple of weeks doesn't hurt. That's how I do it and it works for me! See more

This is what is on sale... Everything is between $5 and $10 (with the exception of one large planter $20 and 1 large hanging basket $15) I've included the sale price on each picture but I'll dicker if you're buying two or more :D

Well Folks, it's time to shut er down for the season. Everything 50% off or better. I want to have the greenhouse all cleaned out by this upcoming Saturday (Aug 15). The baskets and planters still look lovely, so come out and pick something up to freshen up. Still a fairly good amount of Petunias, Ivys, Dracena and Celosia left. For all those who liked The Lazy Gardener Page, I'll be doing a draw for a pretty step planter! Like and Share this Post!

Lots of rain lately. I don't know if it's just my imagination, but the baskets and planters left out in the rain seem to be doing extremely well. Happy about that. More deadheading to do but that's ok, it keeps the flowers always looking fresh! Come on out and see me at 280 Jordan Mountain Road, Mount Hebron, NB!

The rain has been lovely and so dearly needed! The ground was becoming dust, so this last week of rain has finally soaked into the ground. My little veggie patch is showing the difference and appreciating it already. The peas have grown a foot! Yesterday I had to bring all the hanging baskets into the shop and give them a good pruning to keep them looking beautiful. The pansys were minding the heat and getting quite leggy, so they got a chop, fertilized and a petunia tucked in here and there to replace those that just had the biscuit! They are all looking spry and pretty this AM. :) I have to work the next two days but the shop is open! Come on out and get what you need to spruce up those planters, baskets and beds!!

The Lobelia is now perfect for planting! $2.75 for a 6 pack or a Toonie for a 4 pack. Petunias are ready.. spikes are gorgeous! Garden chairs $15 or a chair and planter deal $27!! 280 Jordan Mountain Road, Mount Hebron, NB. People think you can't have pansies all summer.. YOU CAN! deadheading, fertilizing and watering are key to beautiful smelling pansies all season long. Once they start going to seed they get gangly, so deadheading is key!
