The ACOG (American college of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) has recently changed their guidelines about how to support women in their infant feeding choice, stating that women making an informed choice not to breastfeed need to be supported in that choice. Wow!!! A huge thank you to Herbs Appliances Lethbridge for giving us a fantastic deal on our freezer!!! Jerry from Herbs is delivering our freezer for free and we will be able to accept milk as early as mid next week!!! Stay tuned for our official start date. All you ladies with extra milk to spare, get on the phone with the Calgary Mothers Milk Bank to get approved for donating! Then drop off your milk to us and we will get it to the babies that need it most!!!!

If someone tells you the latch "looks good" from the outside, but youre still having pain with breastfeeding, keep looking for answers and dont give up. Your technique could be perfect, but mechanical problems inside the mouth are invisible from the outside if only the latch is observed. Just a quick clarification on the herald article from yesterday: Moms wanting to become donors for the Calgarys Mothers Milk Bank must FIRST contact the milk bank themselves for pre screening and to have a donor package sent to them. THEN our doctors or your family physician can do the screening blood work required by the milk bank. If you think you may want to become a donor, its a good idea to call the milk bank now and get the ball rolling!! Thanks!!! We will update ASAP once our depot doors are open for accepting milk donations for transport to Calgary!
