Like so many others, we started making sourdough bread around the time that yeast disappeared from store shelves. The hearty texture and the distinctive tang prompted us to keep the original starter going and to offer it to Lilly House customers. And there are health advantages that could make sourdough the perfect bite. According to Healthline.com sourdough bread contains higher levels of folate and antioxidants than other breads. Also, its lower phytate levels allow the body to absorb the nutrients it contains more easily. The Lilly House is continuing to offer a limited amount of sourdough each week for $6, along with our signature slow-rise pot breads and our sliced white sandwich loaf. Please remember to order by Thursday for Saturday morning pickup and keep well!

Saturday morning at The Lilly House! And in addition to cinnamon buns, bread, quiche and seasonal cakes ( carrot, apple butter ) made it onto the menu for the week. Due to some previous commitments, we find it necessary to close for this coming weekend of November 28th, but will be back for December 5th pickups with more comfort food offerings and some ideas for the upcoming festive season.
