The London Ontario Accordion Club 19.11.2020

Dear Accordion Lovers: Less than 24 hours from now, we will have celebrated Octoberfest in London and so I have pondered, deeply, with Renate who is also a longtime member, what should we wear!? We have decided to wear our finest Oktoberfest regalia and so I am writing all of you - dear members of the London Accordion Club - asking you to consider wearing your Octoberfest finery, whatever that might involve. For example, Renate and I spoke at length about dirndls, aprons, sho...es...now as a Canadian, you might think a baseball cap and shorts is appropriate but October comes only once a year - the autumn leaves are falling and the smell of fall is in the air. Jack Frost beckons, and all we can do is enjoy accordion music and revel in the cold air. Please remember that if you need a ride (as the hill by the German Canadian Club is daunting), you can always call the executive - including erstwhile, ever helpful Bob Lee and we can pick you up - so long as you are appropriately attired!!! See you soon, Your ever-erstwhile Chief Librarian, Erika Simpson See more

Dear Friends and Newcomers: Walter Lonc and I will be the official Christmas Elves of the December Party for the London Accordion Club meeting at the German-Canadian Club on Thursday Dec. 6. We begin our Festivities at 7 pm and end the party around 9:30 pm (come anytime). The entrance fee is $5 per adult. You will hear fantastic music played by accomplished musicians from all over southwestern Ontario (including the Goderich, Hamilton and Stratford area). There is a bar with... beer and wine. The restaurant is open before 7 pm. There is plenty of free parking close to the entry. If you want more information or to get onto our mailing list, please email Walter Lonc Here is his email address [email protected] Or visit our facebook page Here is our URL on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/thelondonontarioaccordionclub/posts/1642821192671122 If you would like to play some music, keep in mind we are restricted to accordion music so you must involve an accordion player. Each player must be restricted to 3 pieces and due to the number of players, we must make sure that each player plays 3 songs only. We are sorry to have to enforce this proviso, even if you have driven a long way from Hamilton or Goderich. But if you are in a group with 3 or more musicians, we may have time to accommodate your group if you want to play more than 3 songs. There is a limited opportunity to ‘jam’ after 9:30 pm but the Club is also closing down at 10 pm. Please tell us upon your arrival if you intend to play See you soon! Erika Simpson Chief Librarian London Accordion Club P.S. Yes, we have an accordion library with CDs, records and sheet music. You may borrow sheet music or music. We have the entire Palmer Hughes set from Grade 1 to 10 with all the related books. Due to the high value of the set, you may borrow only one book at a time so you may borrow Grade 5, for instance. We have a good collection of Russian and Eastern European music. Our CDs with French Accordion music are overflowing. Polkas and Walter Ostanek are also available. Christmas Music for Accordions is also well stocked. We accept music donations. P.S.S. Want to sell your old accordion? Bring it along and somebody will appraise it or buy it. See more

Dear Friends of the London Accordion Club: The Library will be open this Thursday between 7-9 pm. If materials were checked out to you this year, they could be overdue. Fines will not accumulate and your borrowing privileges will not be suspended until the material is returned. I am looking for an Assistant Librarian to help manage the Library and check out or help return items whilst another Christmas Elf (Walter Lonc) and I (another Christmas Elf) emcee our Christmas Party!... Among the additions to our Accordion’s Library, we have many new CDs including Astor Piazolla, a Nova Scotian fisherman who sings while he plays accordion, and a number of other items. See you this Thursday! Erika Simpson
