Take some time today and thank those around you who have pushed for a public inquiry. Those who attended protests, wrote to politicians, and simply made their anger known to others are the reason why there will be answers as to what led up to the mass murders and how to improve public safety going forward. This is a victory certainly and we celebrate all of you who worked for transparency and accountability.... However, this is not the end, the public inquiry was not enacted by the goodness of any politician's heart, and the question of why it took 3 months and the strongest outpouring of public anger in my lifetime for our representatives to do the right thing remains unanswered. As we face that question, and all other questions of justice we must remember how this victory was achieved, and we must always be prepared to stand arm in arm with one another for what is right.
