Mahone Bay Centre Volunteer Opportunity: Communications, Marketing & Branding The Mahone Bay Centre is looking for a team of volunteers to join our communications, marketing and branding initiative.... If you are a communicator, designer, marketer, social media devotee or creative story teller who is interested in building at the heart of our community, this will offer you a chance to use your talents, and enjoy the company of like-minded volunteers. Working with staff, the team will have a mandate to develop and implement a comprehensive Marketing Strategy and Communications Plan which will help the Centre to continue to grow and gain recognition across all demographic groups and communities. Our goals are: increased membership, rentals and utilization, volunteer and financial support, and enhancing the reputation of the Centre. The team will: - Work with Administrator Kelly Bent, who creates and edits the newsletter. - Solicit or write press releases, stories of volunteer contributions, profiles and other material that generates interest in the Centre's activities, programs and services (an example: Volunteer of the Month profile for the newsletter or our social media) - Establish and maintain effective relationships with media, and maintain a media database. - Promote opportunities for volunteer appreciation, i.e., events or swag Imaginative and effective communications, branding and marketing are vital to our vision of the Centre. Meet the Team! Julie has 10 years of management experience and started with Coastal Action early this year as our Office Manager. She has dedicated her fir...st few months working hard to settle us into our newly renovated office space at the The Mahone Bay Centre! We can’t thank her enough for the hours she’s spent planning, building, moving, & organizing so we can feel comfortable in our new home. When she’s not behind the desk, Julie can be found trimming the main in a race around the islands , paddling through Hell Rackets off the coast of Lunenburg , or pensively staring at a never-to-be-finished painting . She is hopeful that you all to pop in soon to our new office space and say hello!

Job Opportunity Mahone Bay Centre Society has an opening for a Caretaker. MBC Caretaker is responsible for closing all entrances to the Mahone Bay Centre daily, each evening by 10 pm or later as required. Evening closure requires a walk through checking that all doors are locked that should be locked, closing all windows left open, making sure lights are off and the building is empty as well as turning out outside lights.... The Caretaker will be expected to gain a working knowledge of The Centre and it's systems. Ability to perform basic maintenance and small odd jobs would be an asset. Additionally, the Caretaker is responsible for handling garbage removal at The Centre. - sorting garbage in the shed and taking out the garbage, compost and recycling on collection days. The successful candidate will be bonded or bondable and either live near The Centre or have access to a vehicle. Dear Friends, At the Mahone Bay Centre we take our tenant’s, users and our community’s health and safety very seriously. The spread of the COVID-19 virus has reached Canada and Nova Scotia. We are dedicated to doing everything in our power to make your visit with us as safe and risk-free as possible. MBC will remain open for the time being. We will be doing extra cleaning and sanitizing.... We have ordered and will place hand sanitizer dispensers in numerous locations throughout our Centre as soon as they arrive. Please do not visit the Centre if you are feeling unwell or have symptoms. We ask you to wash your hands frequently and maintain social distancing. Centre-Fit will remain open, we have added extra cleaning cloths and ask users to wipe down the equipment before and after use and toss the cloth in the basket for cleaning. In the event that Dr. Strang recommends actions such as closing the Centre for the good of the public’s health, we will do our partand give you, our community, as much advance notice as possible.
