Today is #internationalwomensday and today I feel empowered. This work was me claiming my body back, claiming my ownership over myself again. To lay bare on a canvas the weight I carry, as a woman and as an individual. It is the weight of me. As my body smeared beautiful vibrant colours, the canvas bent and caved under me. The stories my body tells, the canvas could barely contain. It cracked under the pressure that my spine carries everyday. To be a woman is a beautiful bur...den. My brokenness is now beautiful as it heals and becomes strength. My loneliness becomes togetherness as I stand with my fellow sisters as we scream me too. I hope to empower this work in my everyday living. That I may speak out beautifully, as the foundations that once suppressed us bend. And I hope above all things, that the battles I fight today free the women of the future. See more
