Join the KAG in their studios for a conversation between Kamloops-based artist Matt Macintosh and Kamloops Art Gallery Assistant Curator Craig Willms. Matt Macintosh is a Kamloopsbased artist working with found images and objects, painting, video and sound. His work explores the effects of erasure, systematization and repetition on cultural canon materials as they relate to fundamental human experiences like the longing for emancipation. With an interest in the role of abst...raction in the relationship between identity and knowledge production, his work intervenes on or stands in critical relation to existing objects, text or imageryand to the media used to embody themin order to open up the terms under which they are discussed and understood. He studied Drawing and Painting at the Ontario College of Art and Design before completing his Master of Visual Studies degree at the University of Toronto. Currently Curator at the Kamloops Museum and Archives, he has exhibited in Canada and the US. Seriously, check this dude out.
