We're kickstarting #POVLabs with none other than producer and director, Sara Elgamal! This Visual Storytelling lab is built to help participants find their voic...es as storytellers by building their own visual sequence. We will explore and break down content while defining the importance of emotion and concept structures. Through a mentored experience, participants will use tools to articulate their vision into a sequential media output. They will source archival footage and online media sources to create a story that speaks to them or their interest. We will develop the story from the early stages of treatment into final projects. REGISTRATION FULL *Attendees must commit to all 3 sessions (MAY 15, 19, 25) *Familiarity with an editing software of your choosing is required

IRL brings together art + tech to develop novel methods of facilitating community connection and momentum building that prioritize those experiencing the greatest risk of exclusion when technology becomes the only source of connection. 3 Artists and 3 technologists will participate in an 11 week (June 15 - Aug 31, 2020) facilitated, virtual, incubator, where, with the support of mentors, advisors and facilitators, they will work in teams to develop and implement three project...s together. Each artist and technologist will receive a $2,500 honorarium for their participation, and up to $1,000 will be allocated for material costs, as needed, by each project. Scope of all projects will be developed through the co-curation process with the only expectation that they explore methods to reach people beyond their screens. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply. Duos and collectives will be considered. Applicants must be 18 years or older, and must be currently living in Canada.
