How to STAY FOCUSED and Reach Goals @motivationeur FOCUS means getting rid of (or limiting) distractions. Distractions can be: ... 1) time-wasters (TV, Social media), 2) negative people, 3) even hobbies that take up a lot of time, 4) other things. How do you focus? SCHEDULE your days, weeks, months. Make good use of your time. An ancient king and the wisest man at his time wrote: For everything there is an appointed time. King Solomon, Ecclesiastes 3:1 So schedule appointed times to go to bed, wake up, reflect and goal set, meal prep, exercise, work, relax, spend time with family and friends, etc. You get the idea. Buy an agenda book and write it all in. It will take time to get used to it, and to stick to it, but you will get there, one step at a time. You will see your goals being reached! This world we live in has so many distractions that a day passes by in a blink sometimes and we’ve accomplished nothing productive. The most successful people keep a strict agenda on their time, but at the same time, allow for unexpected situations and to relax. FOCUS and you will reach your goals! HOW TO REINVENT YOUR CAREER IN HARD TIMES by @motivationeur Whether we believe the pandemic is hype or not, reality is that it’s impacted our lives, jobs and finances. More than ever, this is a time to TAKE CONTROL, not PANIC! How?... Take these steps to REINVENT your CAREER : 1) Explore all the possible You’s : You already settled on a career. That’s one you. But you have other interests, talents, strengths. Lay all of this on the table and visualize another career you - maybe a MORE FUN and HAPPIER one! 2) Deal with inner conflict : A lot of us feel stuck between holding on and letting go. The future is uncertain, but the present isn’t working anymore. Let this conflict and its emotions play out. Why can’t you embrace change easily? Do some personal development work. 3) Start a sideline : Take a course, volunteer, get a start-up idea on paper, or even make and sell something small. Time and your brain are two huge ASSETS. In lockdown, use them to be proactive and IN CONTROL. 4) Network : You need new ideas and seeing things from a different angle. Get in touch with old connections and see what they’re up to. Join new virtual MEETUP groups. Other people’s ideas can be a huge resource and cash cow. 5) Get SUPPORT and talk it out : Self reflection is good but not if it ends with daydreaming only. 5 WAYS TO INCREASE ENERGY & PRODUCTIVITY There’s always a project that needs to get done, but no energy to get it done. So, how do we change that? ... 1. Exercise daily: There's no better thing to increase energy than fitness. It helps mentally, emotionally, energy levels, outlook on life. Find a routine, make it a habit, and get things done! 2. To do list: Choose 1-3 things you want to get done the next day, no more, no less. When we’re overwhelmed we procrastinate, so keep it simple but stick to it. 3. Do hard stuff first: On that to-do list, make sure to put the harder, bigger tasks first while you’re fresh. Get them out of the way and you will feel great and stimulated. Then you’ll want to get more done! 4. Get better friends : Lazy unproductive friends can suck the energy right out of us. Maybe not on purpose, but their good enough, come play attitude rubs off. A certain immature fun is OK, but often hanging out til late at night steals our energy and productivity. 5. Align your life : Know what you want and identify what’s keeping you from getting there. It may be toxic people, environments or belief systems. Or it might simply be some harmless conflict we don’t realize that isn’t aligned with our goals, such as a hobby that eats up time. Procrastination kills energy and productivity. Action produces an initial energetic stimulation, then momentum, and that leads to more action and productivity. Dr. Dean Ornish conducted one study. Two groups of men with early stage. One group continued watchful waiting . The other group were put on a whole food plant based diet, were given stress reduction therapy, group support and an exercise regimen. ... One year later, the blood and genes of the 2nd group were actually keeping the cancer from growing. Within two years, 27% of those who simply waited needed surgery, chemo or radiation. Only 5% of those in the 2nd group for year 1 needed conventional treatments. Further studies showed that those continuing to eat a Western diet have 2.5x the chance of dying from their prostate cancer within 10 years compared to those who switch to a plant-based diet. Further, those with prostate cancer who eat three or more servings of DAIRY per day compared to only one serving increase their chance of dying within 10 years from their cancer by 141%.
