Sweet & Salty September vibes....

Its exactly 6 months since I bought this place & 1 year to the day that I announced I was closing my boutique in Vancouver to pursue a gentler, greener path! When I chose to close shop doors after 2 wonderful decades, I had no idea exactly where or when I’d be moving to, but I sure manifested quickly, just before a maelstrom arrived! While I couldn’t have foreseen a pandemic, I could feel the undercurrents in both the world & within myself, & knew it was time to move on. I... desired a more peaceful connection with nature & a reprieve from city life. I’m so thankful to be here surrounded by such beauty! To feel safe in my seclusion. To have a sustainable food garden. A seashore close by & creatures that visit me each day. When I saw this place I had to act decisively as there was already an accepted offer with a subject to sale clause. So after just one viewing, this single, self employed female artist got all her ducks in a row to create a peaceful sanctuary all her own. At first my beloved customers were sad to hear that I was moving on, but once they saw the path I was pursuing, there was such an outpouring of love, support & excitement. For which I’m so grateful! As much I loved treasure hunting for my special clients, it sure is fun to shop for @thecoastalvilla! A few plans had to pause but I assure you, I’m planting the seeds for tomorrow while making the most of today

How do you like this rugged & handsome cowboy cactus that came to stay at @thecoastalvilla?! A gift from @kermodi & @si.am.i, he might be a little prickly but warms up to you eventually! ; ) I can’t wait to go antiquing with these guys next weekend. It will be like old times. Except it won’t be. Let’s face it the old times, the old westerns, the old ways of the world are a thing of the past. When life gave me lemons I made lemonade. Well actually I made capers out of all the nasturtium seeds from the crazy nasturtiums that took over all the plants I thought I wanted in silvery coastal hues. Ha! I learned about what thrives, what survives and what doesn’t really want to be here. Waste not want not is a good motto, especially when it comes to water conservation and even my own personal energy of going to and fro. Knowing what I now... about what I know, I plant the seeds for tomorrow. In all ways! I channel challenges into lessons. Lessons into stories. Stories into recipes for life and living - in rhythm with how a garden can teach us, heal us & feed all our senses....so beautifully!
