The New Creation

Sometimes Lord I have to admit I wish you were more consistent. At least by my definition. I wish you would decide to put me on calm waters or not. I could get ...the right gear on and not expect anything other than the sea I'm sailing upon. Of course I realize upon closer inspection of my own thinking what a foolish wish that is. After all any captain sailing on calm seas for too long becomes careless and loses those fast sharp reactive survival instincts that make him an excellent captain in the first place. It is the storms in our life that refine our instincts, not calm waters. We learn nothing napping in the Sun. But no captain can navigate through a storm forever without dying of exhaustion, or turning the ship over to someone else. The design of life is one of perfection. It is I who am in awe that a calm sea and a storm can occur on the same day. It is my challenge to become an astute navigator. -- "Riding the Phoenix" is my latest Reflections series. The more I go on with life, the more I realize how spontaneous I am. I've always been spontaneous, but with a taint of guilt mixed in. It is the mental voice of guilt, which dulls down the free flow of life and creativity. I realize that guilt is part of the collective mindset, that I bought into. Being aware of that, allows for the freedom to let that universal mind belief dissolve. It has nothing to do with the natural being that I am, that each of us are. The unconditioned mind of the child is innocent, spontaneous to the natural urge of what is wanting to express in the moment. We all have the natural inclination within us, it has just been covered up. One way to let it come forth is to give ourselves permission to play. Simply play and enjoy the play, not tied into the results...the play.
