Nordic Woodshop

While attending @rosewoodstudioschool , one day at coffee break I commented on designing a cafe table that wouldn’t rock. Ron (head instructor) said just make it with three legs.... And it is this kind of simplicity in design that has led to my modern milkman stool. @merchantofyork came by and picked up a batch of low stools and some counter height stools for their lovely shop in Toronto. ... Big shout out to @wilboro for giving me the offcuts from his leather beer caddy’s. I’ve lasered them with my @flux_inc Beamo and used them to brand my work.

Every year I make my sidekick a new paddle, this year she’s been missing her buds @girlsskate613 so I took some inspiration from @szetoszeto and made her this walnut and skateboard canoe paddle. She’s actually paddled more than skateboarded this year! It’s fun to see the progression over the years, might need to take a page from @northshorestudio next year and do a bent shaft design. @ Wakefield, Quebec

Time for a change... I've renamed my shop Nordic Woodshop.While I started as a furniture maker, the scandinavian influences, as well as my second business @waxtech.ca (which I run with @andrewkchisholm making ski and wax accessories for Nordic sports) makes this a much better fit. I've recently started @biathlonstocks making semi-custom and custom rifle stocks for the sport I used to coach at the Olympic and paralympic level, adding even more to the meaning of Nordic in my business name.

Made this queen sized walnut bed last summer, so many commissions I could hardly keep up. This summer seems to be all about filling wholesale orders for the shops I sell in. While I love the challenge of one off pieces it’s fun to see the efficiency you can get to with small runs of furniture pieces. @davidirvinephotographer

As the ski season has been shut down, here’s a throwback to last spring when I made this walnut and brass ski stand for some uber volunteers from @chelseanordiq I’m fortunate to work from home and will continue to fill orders while my supplies last. @ Wakefield, Quebec

I had a message back in November from a World Cup Biathlete from Japan asking if I’d make her a custom rifle stock. As I used to coach biathlon, I’ve made many of these over the years but never for someone at that level. After many google translated emails I made this stock for Yurie Tanaka.
