""There was a promise to have a discussion," Ahmed-Omer said. "The promise was broken by arresting our community members that were exercising their right to demonstrate."" https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5811276

The racist email was sent 10 years ago but that's 10 years of cover-ups and not listening "Renee Soeterik, a former aviation security inspector in Toronto, said speaking up about the email ruined her career and was the primary reason for her departure in 2017." https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5800992

" At the time, Constable Bernard Trlaja unknowingly recorded himself making xenophobic statements to Masad on the suspect’s own cell phone. The 15-minute recording was taken while the officer was in his squad car with Masad, driving him to the police station. In it, Trlaja says, This kid obviously doesn’t understand the rule, nature and culture of Canada. If he wants to be violent and bring that violence with him, then he’s going to have to learn the way." https://toronto.citynews.ca//peel-officer-who-acciden/amp/

At 3:30 am this morning, 12 people were arrested while holding the intersection of Laurier and Nicholas on unceded Algonquin territory (Ottawa) at the #WeAreRel...ated protest for the lives of Indigenous and Black Peoples. This happened not long after they had been promised a meeting with city councillors and the Ottawa Police Services Board to discuss their demands. Justice For Abdirahman has tweeted: "What a disgusting tactic to promise community meetings in the morning with city council & ottawa police services board and then ARREST US IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT." People are being asked to rally NOW at police headquarters (474 Elgin) to demand the release of those arrested. #DefundThePolice #DefundOPS

(Please don't use this argument to advocate against collecting race-based data, something we all have had to fight for) https://www.thestar.com//covidiots-come-in-all-colours-usi
